...but I'm not buying it. Spin it however you want, Hal, but your strategy makes no sense. http://riveraveblues.com/2015/03/ha...ry-get-luxury-tax-threshold-two-years-116093/
A disclaimer for an impending poor season for the franchise. Spend wisely not freely, I think all the Fans are aware of the load imposed by the big three, Tex, A-rod, and the Big Man. By the way Hal wanna get cheaper, fire Cashman and hire Billy Beane.
Just affirms they will do nothing of significance until the big contracts expire. That being said why at this point waste money on Capuano and Drew?
Absolutely right Vic. I also don't see this team doing anything or going anywhere until the contracts of Tex & CC expire after the 2017 season. So here's looking forward to 2018.
This tells us Crapuano and Drew will be the rule, not the exception. A name with some history willing to take a 1 yr contract....sign him up and convince yourself not to use the kids on the farm. Excellent point about the lux tax threshold and the next CBA. Its obvious that the kids are concerned about their cut of daddy's fortune....not quite the same as the Boss having it all and able to invest in his passion. Now they are running the team like an investment.
I believe he really wants to & will try & try & try & then after the good players are off the market, he'll go after inferior players for almost as much & then exceed it anyway
...yup, we've been talking about this for awhile. Like I said, Hal's words make no sense. On one hand he pats himself on the back by claiming they're "not cheap" and bases that statement on "offering Moncada $25 Mil"...but if you take the money they foolishly blew on Drew and Capuano, Moncada could very easily be in the Yanx' organization now. ...Hal's and Cashman's strategy and logic are mind-numbing.
Check out the thread titled $$$$$$$$$$$$$ and you'll see that were not getting down to his #s any time soon.
Yeah the'll all be gone. Looking forward to seeing what the Yankees will do. But that's still 3 full seasons away.
^^^... to all threads above. Your all on the mark IMO. I'll let two comments from that web site speak for me, written by others: ie, : so the plan for the Yankees - spend less on the MLB side, while shoe-horning soccer, hockey, college football, concerts and other various events into the stadium on baseball off-days to really maximize income. WTF Steinbrenners - you cheap bunch of greedy twats. sell the team please, to someone else that actually wants to win rather than just cash in. Can't be bothered to read the comments (sorry friends) so I will simply say FK YOU, YOU FKING FK HAL. The "we sort of have a plan but oh never mind it's not working so we'll do other stuff but then next time oh never mind we'll try this again and likely once again field middling teams with BS up and down the roster" shit is getting old. As for myself, the only thing I gotta' say is: King George's Kids obviously did not learn one damned lesson from their Dad, or how to run a Baseball team.the kids deserve a flogging, and we all know King George is rolling over in his grave. George would probably of never left the Team to the Kids, if he could foresee the shit and fk ups of theirs, to a point, there ruining the brand, rather than promoting it. MORE SO than promotion, Continuing to Create a Dynasty Winning Un-Touchable Organization.........! George would of claimed his kids were not his at this juncture....
