This stuff has always amazed me.....

Utilizing Computer Technology to have a mechanical/electrical exterior apparatus utilizing nerve impulses from the brain to the prosthetic limbs, amazing stuff....

This kind of technology, has been experimented with for a decade now, using very expensive G.I. Helmets, which pickup on brain nerve responses. To literally simply think, how some lucky inventor, figured out, you can put a helmet on a G.I. and place him in a hole surrounded by hostiles, where he cannot communicate, to say ask for back ups, reinforcements, or even Air Strikes. While all the G.I. has to do, is simply think of what he would say, (like in a silent prayer), and trigger those Air Strikes. The same helmet has a pull down night vision, and crosshair bomb sight, where the G.I. can look at the target he needs hit, say a Window of a House, or chimney of a bunker, and Voila, hostiles dead.....

Have you seen the Stealth G.I. Army suits, which use LED displays, so a G.I. walking across a field, appears invisible, while small diode camera's pickup the picture on one side of the suit, and display that pic on the other side.......

Along these lines, there's (for the second season in a row) a double amputee competing on Dancing with the Stars... Left leg & left arm I believe due to an IED....... Truly amazing!

The technology today is something I couldn't even dream about 40-50 years ago. Its just AMAZING how far we've come.

...it's just a shame that sometimes our technology is misguided...sometimes it seems that it's a question of can we create/alter something instead of should we create/alter something.

Sometimes I feel that some technology has ruined this country.................

When I was a kid those big silver booths on many corners were enough if I needed to make a call which btw: I didn't NEED to do very often. Today most 12 year olds have there own phone & would probably go into convulsions if it was taken away.

When I was a kid during the summer you couldn't find an empty school yard where you'd ALWAYS find a good stick ball game. Today the kids are planted in front of there computers playing violent video games.

I could go on but why bother?

Technology in itself Is very cool, how it is used by man is what makes it good or evil. That we could probably kick these kids of todays asses is more likely. Back in the day parents would say go play in the street and we did. If todays parents would shut off a kids computer or take their cell phone they'd probably be cited for child abuse. I used to cut grass to make money when I was a kid with the old push mowers. I came to appreciate technology when I spent a summer in San Antonio with my uncle. Dude had a power mower and would let me use it to make money. I got more lawns done in less time with more money in my pocket. At the same time I learned to work smart as well. I never see kids doing that in my neighborhood, its always adults in their late forties, early fifties with an arsenal of equipment.

...^^^...pretty much...I mean why should kids actually do something when there's an app to do it for them? lol

...there are many many examples "technology" gone wild...many of them simply require common sense...like when NASA spent millions trying to come up with a pen that would write in zero gravity in space.........the Russians used a pencil. DUH !!!

ROFLOL, I hate to say it, but Your Right, and I, well, shit, I do have a couple of those pens......

the crazy thing, is, I didn't even have to pay for them....they were handed to us free of charge, what a way to recover costs for a super pricy pen?

tho' I never was a part of inventing a pen, I do know the story, and its absurd, a fine example of ridiculous costs for inventing anything. But what got me more than the $750 Ball Peen Hammer, or 1 only ONE simple bolt, cost $750....

IMO, its a insane indictment of those who know you need a pint of blood to live, then charge that person a Million bucks, then some.....

There's some absurd costs out there, and again "your right", they can't be justified either, not IMO....too much waste, and costs abuses everywhere one turns, so it seemed in the day.....!

^^^ how about the military spending $400,000.00 on Frizbee research and what made it fly, hoping that it would somehow lead to military applications?

LMAO, I had forgot about the Frizbee Research....who in their right mind one would think, would appropriate funds for that research? Really brings things into perspective, when someone is looking at Requistions/(requests for research funds), while......

someone has to read the Req. then approve it, that's where shit gets crazy, mad men, asking for Govt funds to line their own pockets, or get paid, for the most ignorant of shit they want to check out.....Scam/Fraud, that's about all I can say....

    However- (see below)

I Googled; "Excessive Govt and Military Spending", and found this ridiculous statement in one bullshit Web Site:

You Get What You Pay For explains the disparity between spending on militaries and warfare and spending on gender equality. Full of astounding statistics, You Get What You Pay For outlines the cost of achieving gender equality, the utility of gender budgeting, and the price of fulfilling all of the Millennium Development Goals.

    Say WTF.....????

onward to revealing other program funds, amounting to nothing less than a scam.

You have any other examples 59? I've got to wake up, from last nights stupor, to get my brain to function proper, to recollect other $$$ abuses......

This country could solve so many problems today with just a little wiser spending.

Yep, (nodding head)..... its absurd at times, .........

and then like we were posting yesterday, how its always the Soldiers who's pay is being looked at 1st for budget cuts, when there are so many other ways to save money, or cut funds. Never should a Soldier or Vet, or one of Public Service be hit first with such cuts in spending......
