Before the 2005 season began the Yankees signed Tony Womack for $2M. By May they had seen enough of Womack and promoted a guy named Robinson Cano. There is no Robinson Cano in the system but, if Stephen Drew struggles at the plate, Jose Pirela is a good bet to get a look.
Wouldn't you know it, the Yanks have the best young hitter Pirela on their hands since Cano and yet he has no regular position. He bounced around infield and outfield in the minors. My first guess is eventually he'll settle in at 2b or RF. Could be Refsnyder at 2b and Pirela in RF....maybe sooner than later if Beltran gets injured and/or Drew has a very bad first couple of months. I do not believe the Yanks will go into the second half with Drew at 2b if he's having another .167 season, lol, which I also do not expect. We'll see how it works out but both of those two young players WILL be in a Yankee uniform if not this year - certainly next year. They both have shown to be good hitters, and "everyone" knows it. It's kinda exciting. Two of them!
I'd like to see those two knock Drew right out of a job but who knows who the hell is making decisions up their in Brass Land.
What's wrong with you? Do you actually believe I'm including ALL of MLB? I only have to look at who's playing CF for the Angels to..um.....duh, I never heard of him. Trying to get cute with me again? He appears to me, to be the best young hitter THE YANKEES have brought along since Cano. Take it or leave it.
...uhhh, nothing's wrong with me. I didn't say or imply anything about all of MLB. ...you referred to "the Yanx", dumbass...what makes you think he's the best young hitter the Yanx have had since Cano?...clear it up for ya? ...and before you go cherry picking, remember I can do the same thing.
...no, I'm not nuts...I was tested. ....I asked a simple and direct question. What makes you think Pirela is the best young hitter the Yanx have had since Cano?
...what games?...you made a statement I disagreed with. I asked you to explain it. ...and of course it was "In your opinion", most everything posted here is "opinion", but usually people who voice their opinion also have something to base that opinion on...but I guess you don't.
I really like Refsnyder, it seems when he makes contact, he often gets good wood on the ball. "They" now have a fancy term or stat for this ➡(how often a batter hits a ball hard or with authority). As much as I want to see him with the Yanks, at this point I think he needs more work as a 2b. As long as he isn't a butcher defensively, he'll be in the lineup and on the field...soon.
Okay, let's make a deal! You disagreed with the Eovaldi/Prado trade...fine with me, but tell me if you think calling or thinking of German as a "good young arm" prior to his arm problem was not a legitimate description.
^^^According to him, Pirela, who is a career .275 hitter in the minors and who had a good Spring, is the second coming of Cano...buy he won't say why he believes this to be true. ...like I said before, it's like trying to communicate with a dolphin.
