I knew they were gonna get the first pick. NHL is still TRYING to force Edmonton to be good and relevant. Not gonna happen when they have an awful GM and are a mess despite having now 4 number 1 picks.

Sorry I also posted this. So is the idea to keep tanking until you get it right?

See that's what I don't get. Tanking and getting ONE player in the NHL doesn't make you relevant and immediately good despite how good that player may be. This isn't the NBA. This is a TEAM game.

Why did I feel Buffalo would get shafted...........because that's NHL.
Worst record should get the first pick. They say they want to
guard against tanking. Like Edmonton didn't do their best?
Give me a f'kn break. This league still cannot perform off the
    ice like a major league!

And what's worse, not even lowly Arizona could muster any
NHL persuasion. That's an organization who really could have
used McDavid. How many times does NHL pander to get a
    winner back to Edmonton?

Buffalo won't make out too badly.

I couldn't disagree more cage. There 100% should be a lottery. Starting next season the top 3 picks will be determined by a weighted lottery, not just # 1 like this year.

And BTW for us this is the best result. Would you rather have McDavid in the East or West...I'll say West please. Buffalo will get Eichel still, but now McDavid will be out West which is good for us.
