...simple question...yes or no, if Mo doesn't screw the pooch in game 4, is there a game 5,6 or 7? ...laying a WS loss on a manager as opposed the the players who gagged ?...you can second guess Torre all you want but there were a 100 reasons why the Yanx lost that series and the overwhelming # of them were because of the players failing.
Yes, it was almost like he didn't do it because he felt bad. To this day I think it was bullshit anyway.
As much as I despise Papi, you gotta admit he's a helluva hitter....but like you touched on, that is the one guy you cannot let beat you ...walk his ass, hit his ass, or whatever, but don't give him anything to hit.
They sure did let Ortiz get comfortable. And I agree, it was like they didn't bunt because it wwas the "wrong" thing to do. Plenty of blame to go around in that series but Torre sure didn't convince me that he was anything more than a good manager of egos. Certainly not a guy who was going to steal a game with his moves, and not somebody you'd want to pitch out of the bullpen for.
...I'm not so sure either...for all we know, that may not have been real blood, and if it was, it may have been his menstrual blood.
...yeah, 2004 was all on Torre...go figure. ...and the 4 WS Titles were won in spite of Torre....go figure. ...what difference does it make if he pitched 1 inning or 2?...my question was again very simple..."if Mo does not screw the pooch in game 4, is there a game 5, 6 or 7 to second guess?
I've said plenty of blame to go around but you hold on to whatever you want. I didn't like Torre, is that ok with you? Was overrated. I hope that's ok to say here. I also agreed that game 4 was on Mo in the end. I point out the 6 out save (go figure) because, if I recall correctly, at the end of his career we realized that he struggled with the 6 out save. Don't have the numbers but it's a recollection. You have to chill man, not everything needs to be confrontational - you misread my thought on Mo and would think i kicked your dog. I'm fine with differing opinions.
...confrontational?...again, OK, if you say so...it's a message board, so obviously, not everyone is going to see things the same way...and no, I don't need to "chill"...I'm fine, and I'm cool...and so are we.
Whats that old adage "Opinions are like assholes, EVERYBODY has one" More so on forums such as these. Yes I know, I'm wise beyond my years. ...........................................all 39 of them.
? I responded to bernbaby who I agreed with.. and added a ittle "update" Wasn't that apparent? Look here, and whoever disagreed with trading away Greene- I have ALSO SAID I liked Greene and didn't like seeing him go. In fact, I even pointed out once (at least) in the past how he also pitched very well in a couple or so games vs GOOD teams last year and as Casey used to say: "you can look it up"..but in any case, I like'd what I saw from him overall in his few starts last year but the deal is done. Cashman felt/thinks Gregorius has the potential and could become a good solid young SS for the Yanks. But I'm not yet ready to declare the deal a "bad one"and even Greene still has something to prove over the full season and going forward. That's all - sorry if you disagree or have a problem with my reply or assessment of the Greene- Didi deal.
Is that the ceremonial Cy Young hat you were ready to give Greene after his first two starts of the season? Lmao
