Frazier; he was only picked up to potentially use in a lopsided trade since his deal is unguaranteed. Gee is gone. I think we resign everyone else; keep our 1st round pick and sign an MLE free agent. The players want to give it one more try with the same group healed from injuries. LaMarcus only signs a 2 year max deal with a player option after one year so he can cash in on the TV money.
Kaman goes please Wright goes please Lopez is our backup AAA I'll give a pass to Blake needs to be turned into 3rd string if he stays Frazier looks like a decent backup PG Gee can go Batum can go (will he ever be consistent?)
that's why i wished they had not even played him in the last game or two; to piss him off enough that he would want out and not exercise his option.
I don't want to see Gee gone; I don't want any to leave who have heart. Did you see one guy on the Grizzlies, bench or starters, who didn't come out there with passion? That was the difference in this series. I don't think I have as bad an opinion of Lopez as some. I thought he was out there working and I think he could have been utilized more on offense. Where is he when Aldridge would drive and suddenly be surrounded? Shouldn't we have set up a play where Aldridge takes just one dribble, then passes to Lopez for a short jumper? Batum, yeh I don't care if he takes responsibility for his bad play. Because he really doesn't; he doesn't say he will skip the national team and work on strengthening selective parts of his game and his body. (Couldn't he at least strengthen his grip enough so guys couldn't always slap the ball out of his hands?) If we can find a restricted free agent we really like, who likes Portland; I would try to force a trade. I want some tougher guys on the Blazers. I wouldn't be unhappy to see Stotts go if we had somebody definitely better lined up. Golden State had the guts to get rid of Mark Jackson.
I think the domino of who stays and goes will start with Aldridge. Obviously signing Aldridge will be the first move. If he doesn't sign with us, then we go a completely different route, building a team around Dame, CJ and Leonard. Everyone else would be gone IMO. Now if we resign Aldridge, then I suspect the core will stay, including signing Wes and Lopez. Maybe we make a move for Hibbert to solidify the center position and entertain offers for Batum, but we could very easily keep everyone and add the MLE player (preferably a SF).
WHAT!?! And you call yourself a Crabbe fan? An upper crustacean? I'm revoking your official Stampede program, t-shirt, and decoder ring. And, I'm telling jlprk.
My non educated guess including signings and possible trades would be.... Damian - Obviously Stay Wes - Stay Batum - Stay Aldridge - Stay Rolo - Stay Afflalo - Stay CJ - Stay Meyers - Stay Wright - Stay Freeland - Gone Crabbe - Gone Gee - Gone Kamen - Gone Frazier - Gone Blake - Gone
Blake has a contract next year. Can't see him gone unless traded. Crabbe will also be here. Agree on all the rest except maybe Wright and Rolo and Afflalo. Would hope you are wrong on Freeland and Gee but doubt you are.
Damian - Gone Wes - Gone Batum - Gone Aldridge - Gone Rolo - Gone Afflalo - Gone CJ - Gone Meyers - Gone Wright - Gone Freeland - Gone Crabbe - Gone Gee - Gone Kamen - Gone Frazier - Gone Blake - Stay barfo
I don't even understand a few of the comments in this thread about Rolo. He never seemed to be the same after his injury, and in the playoffs he was going up against one of the toughest frontcourts in the league. He didn't quit on the team. I'd love to have him back personally.
LMA and Wes will resign. We pick up Kamans option. Freeland, Wright and Gee will all likely be gone. They are end of the bench players and have value but little upside so we will try to fill their spots with more talented players or young players with long term potential. Lopez will stay unless we acquire a new starting center which is possible but I suspect unlikely. AAA will stay if he opts in or leave if he opts out. If he stays his trade value is so low we might as well hang onto him. With Wes and CJ its not an ideal situation for him to sign a long deal. I actually think the Knicks would be a great fit for him and that team. If they get one of Okafor/Towns, sign Monroe they would only need a PG. Blake and Frazier will battle it out to be the 3rd string PG in training camp. Loser gets voted off the island. Would be fitting to cut ties with Blake a 3rd time then probably bring him back at the deadline if there is a trade or injury. We'd have to eat Blakes contract while Frazier is nonguaranteed so Tim will have to prove something. We keep all of Batum, Dame, CJ, Meyers, Crabbe. Our management is big on continuity and players developing long term chemistry. We as fans love to ponder roster changes but I think Neil and Stotts would rather make small tweaks each offseason.
