Ah the sport of graceful! Its great you found a new profession for CC since he's gonna have to start throwing underhand anyway.

As an ex avid bowler I've actually seen most of these things happen.

Same. Grew up with Parker Bohn III, actually bowled with him as a kid and got to meet Mark Roth on several occasions.

Bowled through college and grad school. Bowled my best game ever against my best friend (274), but he went on a tear to 289. John had a wicked hook and a custom rhino, on a properly oiled lane it was a sight to see.

Once they killed smoking in alleys, leagues went to shit.

My greatest night in league play was when I threw a 721 series, 257, 219 & a 245 Needless to say I won all three pots that night. I also led the league that year with a 186 average. My favorite bowlers were guys like Earl Anthony, Peter Webber & I met Brian Voss, real nice guy.

Very well waxed floors, or clumsy non-sure footed bowlers, or both?

That was just one of those nights that I couldn't do no wrong. And although I came close once or twice after that night I never hit a 700 again.

Had a few in the 600's.....but I tossed a straight powerball and I was at the mercy of the lane conditions. Had a few broken pins too.

...^^^"broken pins"?...no shit?...I know you're a big fella but I've never seen someone break a bowling pin...of course, I've only been to the lanes about 20 times or so.

...or when you say broken pins, do you mean, open frames or splits?

Its a fun sport for entertainment & after my playing days were over & I hung up my balls (ouch!) I use to DJ at the lanes on weekends doing something called "Rock & Bowl" I'd play music from the 50s & 60s on a Friday night & 70s & 80s on Saturday nights. Had some contests (Name that tune) and various give away's. A fine time was had by all.

There was a moonlight (midnight) bowl on sat nights....DJ and such. Lots of non bowlers and lots of drinking. So they put out all the old tired pins...they were fragile at times.

And sometimes picking up a spare, a downed pin gets lodged during reset. If the head is pointing towards you it has a good chance it'll break.

...ahhh, that makes since. I saw a program the other night that I watch all the time called "How It's Made"...they were at the factory where bowling pins are made and they went step by step as to what it takes to make just one according to specs...pretty cool stuff.

Amen, the Rolls Royce episode was one of my favorites, to watch those classic great cars, with interior silence, where one can't hear the engine at all, only the tick tock of a clock, but those were the old ones.

Today a clock is digital, and has, (who ever would of believed it) either the BMW or Mercedes Engine(s), in the Ghost and Phantom.

Like the B2, Rolls bodies still hand sculpted in sorts, with Outer Mole Line Tolerances, as tight as a Formula IV car, or Stealth AC..........the white glove treatment of "How It's Made"...
