I get that you feel you had to write a book and that you want to sell books but stop already. Still whining after all of these years. Jorge Posada needs to get over himself
Hell I thought Bernie Williams had more of a reason to be bitter then Posada did. Bernie had a decent final season with the Yankees & IMO warranted a return even if it meant in a reduced roll. I wasn't to pleaded with the way Bernie sent off after a very good career.
Yeah, loved his passion but hated how he got toward the end; refusing to be moved down in the lineup, being so vocal about his displeasures…just not the "Yankee way." Cliche and tired but there's something to it to me. I'm a huge Bernie fan (obviously) for so many reasons; and his classy, quiet demeanor that is still true to this day is impressive to me.
Sigh. I died slowly when they forced Bernie out. Yes, he deserved a continued role, if even reduced, but Jorge and Bernie kind of forced the Yanks hand. Can't blame the players. Why would you ever want to leave?
When I reflect back on Yankee Catchers since I became a fan I think Yogi, Thurman, honorable mention to Cerone, and Jorge. I remember some issues during the 11 season but I also remember how he seemed to be the lead guy wanting to win that playoff against the Tigers. In the case of Bernie, we could point to the GM and ask why did you screw this guy, ditto with Decki after the '09 series. I had to go back and look at that '11 Yankee Roster finding Jorge to be listed under "other" positions. Always respected Cervelli he could have been Jorges back up but the Yankees signed Martin who was behind that. I respected Jorge did not read Torres book nor will I read his.
Backed up Yogi, played some outfield, took over for Yogi as primary, my bad, forgot Elston Howard, damn good Yankee.
Elston was one of those players that took a back seat to many great Yankees & in his case I think he excelled because of it. He wasn't the focal point. 1961 I was just becoming a fan Elston battered 348 that year but was basically over shadowed by the Mantle / Maris HR race. I had my favorites on those teams like Mantle of course along with Maris & new comers Tresh & Pepitone But Howard was right there.
Yanks were good to Jorge..,.his last contract was a gift. Isn't Elston Howard part of an interesting ,impressive trivia question?
1. Ellie was the first black Yankee 2. In 1963 Sandy Koufax, Elston Howard, and Jim Brown all won the MVP in their sport and all wore #32
