In what sense did they "try" for Love if they weren't willing to give up jack to get him? Anyway, isn't Green their PF now? And wasn't that the switch that vaulted them to contention?

Wasn't the chatter that they might be after KD next year? Dunno how that would be possible, but it certainly would be unfair.

Maybe Wes becomes our starting small forward. He is 20 lbs heavier (and stronger) than Nic. He defends taller players very well and after his injury maybe he is better suited to guard slower bigger players.

If some of you are concerned with starting CJ at SG then maybe start Crabbe. Cj would come in half way through the 1st quarter.
Then you use the rookie SF to back up Wes. If Wes is not healthy enough to start the season then keep Wright.

I think Green plays both forward spots. He is only 6'7".
They offered a combination of Iggy, Barnes and Lee. That is more than Jack.

Now granted I haven't really looked a ton into this draft but if were trying to keep LA packaging Batum to move up in the draft doesnt' seem like the greatest idea. Package Batum move up top 5-9 and then our option at 3 is to either start a rookie or get into a bidding war for demarre carroll and paying him close to what Batum makes.
Hell even if LA is leaving i'd rather have Batum then to package him and move up. Getting a good quality SF is very hard to do in the NBA, especially a two way player with a damn near unique tool set like Batum has. He isn't a great player to rely on to be a scoring option all the time but he is a perfect fit for the 4th/5th option which he is when we had a healthy Wes.

I think Neil knows something we don't and that's the problem we're facing here.:smiley-hmm:

I could see us doing Batum, Kaman+23 for Hibbert+mid-late lottery pick. Draft Dekker, sign Aminu.

How about switching draft picks, Kidd-Gilchrist and Stephenson to Portland and Batum to Charlotte?

If the team were to move up, who are you looking to replace?

If LMA leaves, you just go BPA and hope. If LMA stays, are you looking to replace Wes, Batum, or RoLo?

I'm not sure Batum and #23 gets us high enough to actually accomplish anything - unless LMA is leaving and then you dump everyone not on a rookie deal and go for broke. :hairout:

Green can play sf but he only plays there about as often as he plays c, it does happen but he is primarily a pf.

The proposed deal for love never included igoudala, it was lee/barnes/1st Rd pick. Warriors dropped out of talks when minny included klay in the deal.

I've mentioned before that iggy to Portland makes sense in my opinion. He's a better version of batum, older but he can still play. If you lose Aldridge and Allen still wants to try to compete make it iggy and lee. Lee can't defend, I know, but he's not as bad as most people say and assuming he is healthy can replace most of Aldridge's offensive production. Before people jump on me I know he is not as good as lma but only a year ago they were viewed pretty equally by many people.

This is what sucks about the draft... It's before free agency, we have no idea what LA is gonna do.

We'd be better off rolling with Leonard and a rookie SF than taking on Iggy and Lee...

I think I'd rather try for Barnes if we decided to take Lee's contract

I agree but if Aldridge leaves you go after Monroe hard!

Way too much. Kidd-Gilchrist improved quite a bit last year. At At 6'7" 232, he can guard 4 positions very well.
I thought about him a couple of days ago. I would take him straight up for Batum. He is going to give you 10 points and 7 rebounds every night. (plus the D) and he is only 21. He would fit in well with Dame, CJ, and Leonard.

Thing is, Batum IS a player who can help us make another run next season. And it's a contract year, so according to groupthink, he should have a banner year...

The Blazers roster is and always should be a hyphen-free zone.

I don't think his effort was inconsistent, not at all. His production was certainly inconsistent. His performance was inconsistent. But his effort? I think he has the Ted Williams Syndrome. Even though the Splendid Splinter was one of, if not the, fastest players in baseball, his stride was so smooth and looked so effortless that the press thought he wasn't giving it his all.

We know EXACTLY what LA is gonna do. He's going to sign a huge contract and retire as the greatest Blazer ever.
