I could see then pushing Griffin and Barnes for Batum and LA.. Batum killed them this year and Deandre would be a perfect Pick n Roll tandem with him plus its the only way they can get a competent SF since they'll be over the cap. LA would fit better with CP3 too Would y'all do that? I think Griffin would be a good fit, plus we'd save $12M this year so we could really build a contender
If we did that, we would have to revamp the entire team. I think it would mean no, Wes, No RoLo. The only starter that we'd keep would be Dame. If the trade went down we would have to draft a floor spacer (RJ Hunter), sign a defensive center (Chandler), another point guard (CJ Watson) and fill out the roster with cheap vets/retained players. Lillard / Watson / Blake Hunter / CJ (bulk minutes) Barnes / Crabbe / Wright Griffin / Leonard Chandler / Kaman / Freeland Idk if it makes us better, but it does make us younger.
that would leave our payroll at like $54mil.. Getting rid of Blake and Freeland would give us $16M. I think we would try to sign Watson for the room exception, giving us $19M to resign Wes and a starting SF (maybe Luol Deng?) PG Lillard($4M)/Watson ($2.8M Room Ex.) SG Matthews($8.5M)/McCollum($2.5M)Crabbe($1M) SF Deng($9M)/Barnes($3.2M)/Wright ($1M) PF Griffin($18M)/Leonard($3M) C Chandler(9M)/Kaman($5M)/Freeland ($1M) Total: $66M (included draft pick), then sign CJW to room exception Upgraded starting lineup with legit backups at every position, sounds good to me. Best case scenario if LA leaves
Doc was amazing with the Magic, he got a horrific roster with Darrell Armsteong as his best player to a 41-41 record. I think he's a good coach but he's a horrible GM. The roster is the problem.
Interesting idea. Yeah they don't do a LMA for Blake swap but add another starter they at least listen. Since it would be a sign and trade we could stay above the cap and resign our other free agents. Dame, Blake, Frazier AAA, CJ, Crabbe Wes, Wright Blake, Meyers, Freeland Rolo, Kaman Plus we'd have a first round pick and MLE. The Blazers could decide to instead let our free agents walk so we either make a run at a big name free agent; or sign guys for one year deals to have flexibility to add talent to a young core. If we could get Wes, AAA, Rolo on fair contracts I'd like to keep them but there are different options that would all be interesting. I just don't think there's any way they trade Blake Griffin though. Balmier paid $2 billion for that team and I see him trading CP3 before Blake.
Good idea although I dont think you can have Freeland/Wright at $1mil so they probably sign elsewhere. But still would be very good roster.
Freeland won't get more than $2M. And if Watson doesn't wanna join a championship contender for a reasonable $2.8M then just play CJ at both guard spots.
Defensive minded bigs don't come cheap. He will get 3.5-4, if guys like Joel Anthony and Ian mahimi can get that so can Freeland.
I disagree, you keep guys like Freeland. He can plug and play start better than a guy like Kaman if people were out.
I think the Clippers would accept Batum and Aldridge for Griffin and Barnes in a heartbeat. They'd arguably upgrade at PF, and definitely upgrade at SF, while getting guys that fit better with the guys they have.. Balmer is bold, I think he'd do this. We'd get a great return for LMA and wed be able to build a contender right away.
Sorry but having a lineup like this... PG Lillard/Watson SG Matthews/McCollum SF Deng/Barnes PF Griffin/Leonard C Chandler/Kaman Is easily worth losing Freeland for And if you want a defensive big that bad you draft Upshaw at 23
You might as well because the chance of getting Chander without over paying him is not good. I just don't see Dallas letting him go twice. (they will pay him) If he leaves Dallas I think he goes to whatever team he sees as having the best chance to win it all. Is that the Blazers?
Well, golden state has Bogut, Houston has Dwight, Clippers have Jordan, Grizzlies have Gasol, Spurs have Splitter/Duncan, Hawks have horford, Cavs have Mozgov, Bulls have Noah... I think we would be the best place for him.
That Dallas situation is terrible and every year they reshuffle. Plus they'll be talking to DeAndre and that will push Chandler out. If the Blazers are puting together a squad with Griffin, Dame, Deng and Wes, he'd be crazy not to join
Wait, how are we getting Deng? Trade? I think he is gonna stay in Miami, they'll be contenders next year for the east and the tax is light. Dragic / Napier Wade / Johnson Deng / Beasley / Ennis Bosh / McBob / Haslem Whiteside / Birdman And that's just before the draft and FA. I think more realistic SFs are Aminu, Crowder,
I think he'll opt out, that team is a 7th placed team in the East with the worst bench in the league. I think he wants to win
If Dallas goes after Jordan then why wouldn't Chandler go home to LA and play for the Clippers? Chandler never wanted to leave Dallas the first time, he seems pretty content on staying. Chandler just doesn’t want to experience what he experienced in the off-season of 2011 when the business of basketball forced him to play for the Knicks. “I think management will do a job of bringing the right personnel here —they always have throughout the years,” Chandler said. “I think they’ll have opportunities. “I think this summer they have flexibility, maybe more than they’ve had in the past. So being a good organization and a good city, you have opportunities with free agents, but you kind of have to see how it plays out.” Read more here: http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/nba/dallas-mavericks/article20153577.html#storylink=cpy
