We've looked to the farm this year. I've heard Brian Cashman talk about Refsnyder several times. They are aware of him and they are watching him. There is no traffic on the road. There is no construction. The only thing between him and the Bronx is him.
I still want Didi sent to AAA to work on his offense in hopes of making him a player. Drew is a better defender than him. Both of their bats blow, I have more confidence in Drew coming out of it. Give Didi June in AAA with Refsnyder while Drew and Pirela play. Maybe we can call both of them up together in July. Whatever the case may be play can then do the talking for all 4. If Drew or Pirela plays well, great, they can keep their job. If not we look to how Didi and Ref are playing in AAA come July 1, if well, give them a crack. If not well to the trade market we must go.
Zobrist would make sense for one reason, he's a free agent after this season. That makes him a rental, meaning he shouldn't cost much, and he wouldn't block Refsnyder (who needs to continue working at a relatively new position). Drew needs to go or become a bench player. Pirela is failing miserably so far - you have to do more with an opportunity than what he's done. I don't know if I'd like the Zobrist move but Drew isn't working out and it looks like Refsnyder needs a little more time.
...always liked Zobrist...good all around versatile player...not flashy but instead low-key and very business-like...my kind of player.
He's been a 160 hitter for almost a year now even with a full ST so I don't know what you're basing this on.
Zobrist current is 7 and 3/4 million, nice player, problem is the A's would see Cashman coming to the used player lot, Beane would bend Cashman over the visitors dugout and proceed to rape him for 5 players and cash.
Beane, who IMO is overrated, will impress me if he can get much for Zobrist. This will be a salary dump and maybe a mid-level prospect. Anything more will be because he took advantage of a dolt like Cashman.
