Well, it's nice to see all the Dame doubters who emerged in our short playoff run have disappeared. And if I were GM I wouldn't do it, but mainly because of reasons like "loyalty" and "he just released a shoe in the color of the PDX carpet". I was actually hoping for people who've watched A LOT of D'Angelo Russell to comment about how good he is. He gets compared with Harden, he gets called "the best passer in the draft" and "the best PLAYER in the draft" and he looks amazing in only his freshman year, something Dame didn't necessarily do. Maybe his ceiling is higher than Lillard's? He's taller, that's for sure, and probably a better passer, too. And it would be hard for him to be a worse defender... Like I said, unless you think CJ will be happy being 6th man for life, or you seriously believe we can prosper with Dame and CJ playing a tiny, poor-defense backcourt together, or you think CJ (playoff hero!) is going to be traded for a super asset and not just lost as Harden and Bobby Jackson were for OKC, then you have to start thinking sacrilegious thoughts.

Second time you've mentioned it: REGGIE JACKSON!! Not Bobby.

Oops! To be fair, Bobby was a lot like what Reggie is... But yes, you're right.

Let's see...it was about 15 years from the end of Terry Porter's career with the Blazers to Damian Lillard. Since All-Star quality PGs are obviously so easy to get...yeah, let's trade ours away.

And if they don't break right. or someone suffers an injury, like ACL tear, or Microfracture....
You just lost both players for nothing. + got a player that might not come back from said injuries.
Which leads to front office turnover because they went the way of trading Lillard, letting Aldridge walk.

Houston traded for it, OKC has got lucky. But for as many good players they've chosen. They've picked just as many scrubs as everyone else.
People think the draft is how you make teams. But if you look at the T-wolfs, how many years running have they been in the lotto? How many times have they made the playoffs after getting those high picks?
Draft is a crapshoot. I'd rather have proven talent than "what if this player is a stud". Besides, don't the Blazers have that with Batum? and had that with Fernandez? Oden?
Just to list a few names.

Which is why I said you only consider it if you know LMA is leaving. If he is staying, you go a completely different direction.

You would be better off suggesting another topic instead of taking the Dame out of Rip City. Sending him to LAL is like offering your sister to a street gang

    Sheesh, I said I wouldn't do it, didn't I?

But I'm bookmarking this thread in case Russell is the Black Jerry West and Lillard turns into fat Raymond Felton.

Don't know what "sacralicious" means but the Blazers are not going to trade Damian Lillard to the Lakers. Why would they trade an All Star and the most popular player for a long time, the visible face of the franchise, for the leavings of a lotto team?

Because its the off season and were bored with the LMA trades so might as well make one up for lillard because we can only remember how badly he sucked at the end of the year and of course that has to mean he will play like that for the rest of his career.
I'm pretty forgiving with players but if LMA choose the Lakers or Lillard, which wont in even a million years happen, gets traded there i'm buying a jersey and burning it.
