I have a large Epson photo printer that I use for quality prints.

What I'm talking about here is the average desktop printer for everyday printing. Super quality isn't what I'm talking about. Let me say that I've owned every make of printer out there. Fry's used to sell their display printers for $20 so instead of buying new ink cartridges I would just buy 2-3 printers, use them until the ink was gone and then give them away. Sadly Fry's doesn't do that anymore, lol.

Anyway, Currently I have an Epson all-in-one printer, scanner, copier, fax (have never used the fax function, who uses a fax anymore?) Just the other day I had the cartridges refilled instead of replacing them. Way cheaper, half as much but the quality is crap. The printer knows that yellow isn't from Epson ( they all aren't, not sure why it only could tell the yellow ink.) and the black is very smudgy.

Do any of you get your ink cartridges refilled? How is the quality, not looking for photo quality, just something that works normal. What brand of printer do you have? Where do you get your cartridges refilled at? I did at Frys. Not pleased. Is the problem with Epson or where I got the cartridges filled at?

Looking for recommendations for either cheap ink, refilling places or a new printer that works better with refilled cartridges than the Epson does.

Oh, I also have 2 Alps MDS 5000 printers. These are the most amazing printers I've ever owned, very specialty. Only non-professional printer that can print white. Can also print on a variety of surfaces besides paper, including aluminum foil. Also the ink is waterproof.

Anyway, I can sell them back to Alps (their North America headquarters is here in Portland) but if someone knows what these are and wants one I can make you a pretty good deal.

I use and prefer brother. I have a color laser at work, used to have the professional Epson ink based, it was massive and expensive to refill.

The State of Oregon. I recently got a wide load permit, it had to be send to a Fax number. Then buggers sent 12 pages of State propaganda with the permit.

I just found out, I can not get ink for my Lexmark printer at Staples any longer. Well I think I will keep it as a Scanner and get the cheapest printer (single function) possible.
Just chuck the thing when it burps. I hardly ever print anything, take a stick to a print shop almost sounds better.

I have 2 Canons at my home office for quality photo printing and at the office we have 3 Brothers printers for mostly black printing on a large scale (mailers,forms...).

I get my remanufactured ink cartridges at Ink.com for about 1/2 price and the quality is excellent.

Back in my day, we walked 12 miles barefoot through the Death Valley desert in the snow to borrow our neighbor's computer printer. We gold dusters had to mule pack the ink cartridges. Don't give me none of that Costco refilled cartridge nonsense when I buy my muffins.

Those all in ones suck and always break and are really expensive ink cartridge replacement. If you dont care about color look into a ribbon printer, i got a brother model. They might cost a little more up front but they are fast, cheap and reliable. The ribbon lasts forever also.
