Why? The question wasn't "Is Zach Randolph a good defender?"

I guess if Love is a consolation prize, he's better than nothing, but I still feel like LA will be a huge piece of shit in my eyes if he leaves.

Yup. If he leaves, the fans loyalty to him should be left at the door he walks out of.

Lmao! So you make a claim that Aldridge is a bad defender, then deny stats. So are we just riding along the psychedelic trip your on or you actually have substantial evidence to support your claim?

LMA is only a good defender when he's defending another PF in a man/man situation. He's abysmally bad at playing team defense.

I don't think LA is a bad defender by any means. My problem is that I think he has the tools to be first team All-NBA in defense. He's long. He's athletic. He's a sharp guy. There's no reason why he shouldn't be one of the top defenders at his position, but he simply isn't. He's not a good help defender IMO. Having watched Sheed growing up, I know what a really good defender looks like at the four. Or Camby. Guys who talk on defense, help out on the pick and roll, and play good man to man. Aldridge has the tools but the effort isn't there.

Agreed, except for the comment about him being smart. Hi might not be Travis Outlaw-dumb, but he's closer to that end of the spectrum than...whomever the smart end of the spectrum would be named after.

I'd be ticked if the backup plan to re-signing the best PF on the market isn't to sign the 2nd best PF FA. So who's the back-up to the back-up plan? David Lee?

Given how much energy is required of LA on the offensive end, I'm not sure that expecting him to be a great help defender is realistic.

How much energy does it take to loft up jumpers? If he was in the paint all game I would agree, but he's not.

Man, sometimes I wonder if you're even watching the same player. Lofting up jumpers? Yeah, he shoots a lot of turn-around jumpers, but only after he's spent a considerable amount of time and energy working for position and setting his man up.

Eh, I don't know... sure, definitely he does that during part of the game, but there's also a lot of shots where he just sits at the top of the key and jacks a shot, or runs a pick and pop. Those can't possibly expel a ton of energy.

Garnett was 1st team defense a number of times. So was Kobe. Do you think LA works harder on offense than either of those guys?
