Steve don't mean to put you on the spot but what singer do you find attractive? and please don't say Lady GaGa.
Wow, I've been a fan of Bonnie since the very early 70s, since she was one of the better studio musicians used by the "LA music scene" groups, and Troubadors.....every Musician in LA seems to have had Her as a backup vocalists, or a slide guitar, on their LPs..... The comment caught me off guard, but now I think of it, I can see it alright..... Maybe Raitt needs to take on a last American Tour, with the Chix with Dix, and/or K.D. Lang as the Opening Act, it'd be a "dikes on bikes" fest......
Ah, so you know all too well of the tale of my buddies, yours sounds as familiar...... both guys mentioned, how when they began to play pool, all the other tables in action stopped dead cold, while they were being sized up by all..... good thing my buddies new the bldg, or had they of not been previous customers in the earlier era, they'd of never of known there was even a Front Door Exit, and they ran like Hell...........
With the exception of "The wall", which had the only single "Another brick in the wall" they ever charted, I was never a big Pink Floyd fan.
+> Theres a reason why your the world wide leader of forumism. I actually saw her in the 1970 blues bag 2 concert in Philly featuring the Allman Bros with Duane Allman and Berry Oakley. As I understand it was the very begining of her tour carreer. I was 17 and man those years were really special. Concerts in those days were under $10. I think Bonnie acquired "that" following when social media was born. By the way, check out her work with Little Feat with Lowell George (another great band)
+> A pink Floyd concert or two is like seeing Angels at an altar. Perfect work every time. The visual effects are one of a kind. Hey my O's lost one to the Red Sox . At least two of their starters are hurt. Hope your Yanks play them next.
...Eagles, Zepplin. ...but I have many favs...Heart, Doobies, etc.,...but for me, it was The Beatles who really got me started.
God no.... Just off the top of my head Amy Lee (Evanescence) has to be tied for the top of my list... Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) is tied for the top spot... Shirley Manson (Garbage) Avril Lavigne Leigh Nash (Sixpense None the Richer) Gwen Stefani (No Doubt) (or her solo act) or the younger Stevie Nicks Other Sheryl Crow or Katty Perry Country: Carrie Underwood Faith Hill Cassadee Pope Hillary Scott (Lady Antebellum) Julianne Hough Miranda Lambert Rachel Reinert (Glee) Sara Evans Kellie Pickler I mean... I could go on and on and on... but you get the idea... any of these are better looking than those already mentioned...
Steve you had me on Amy Lee but then went completely down hill on the next 3-4 but redeemed yourself on ALL the rest. Good choices.
The Beatles have to be at the top of my list too & I'm okay with your other choices also. For me I have to add, Creedence, The Stones, Aerosmith and Grand Funk R.R. to any list
I'll admit it isn't the best picture of Lzzy Hale nor of Shirley Manson, but there is something about Avril that I like... Here's a couple more of Shirley and And here are a couple more of Lzzy Hale & &
She makes a better brunette then a redhead with pasty skin & bright lipstick. But still does nothing for me. Now Underwood, Pickler, Evans, Hill, Perry & Crow can put there f'k me pumps under my bed any day.
I remember those days well since I moved here north of L.A. in 1970. I'm thrilled you mentioned Little Feat as well. I had all their LP's, and am a Fan of Ry Cooder and Valerie Carter too, as you know, Valerie as Lowell's backup Angel, and Cooder helping out Lowell on their 1st LP. Lowell and Raitt made magic together. It was a sad day here when Lowell passed away too young. Recall Lowell first played with Zappa's Mother's of Invention, and Cooder on Captain Beefhearts (Don Van Vliet) Magic Band. Both Lowell and Cooder moved on of course. Beefheart and Zappa met and both went to my Alma Mater a decade before I did. Zappa moved on, Beefheart remained in this Desert, a regular customer in the middle of the night at a Denny's I worked at. Got to know Don fairly easily, tho' he was extremely picky when choosing to befriend a person. In my case, I had numerous experiences meeting Don at a Bar or 2, and driving him home. One of the highlights of my life, as much as cooking Zappa a blood rare steak, when they were both up here looking for a spot to shoot the cover photo of Bongo Fury. Overall, I was over whelmed with many great musicians locally here in the 70s, and worshiped older local bands like Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds, Poco, Ricky Nelson once he had the Stone Canyon Band, and re=invented himself easily, et al. Several Musicians I've met, to name a few, Gram Parsons at Clarence White's Funeral, burial here in town, again at the Palomino Club. B/T, the Whisky A-Go Go, The Troubador, The Roxy, Golden Bear, it was easy to interact with up and coming Musicians, who it was very clear were going to create their own page in R&R History. Others I've seen and met, in their earliest of years, in L.A. Nightclubs, were Jackson Browne, Bernie Leadon, Chris Hillman, Emmylous Harris, the most Angelic of persons on Earth Emmy was, who was the easiest to chat with, or was it due to seeing her 8 times in the 70s alone, or the one and only kid in a small crowd, wearing a Stetson 5X, a Nudies Rodeo Jacket, and Silk Shirt, torn Levis, and as good of Dan Posts Roper boots as I could find. I met her 1st when she picked a sweepstakes winner for Her Luxury Liner tour. 1st with GP, then with her Hotband. I got to shake hands and chat with Ry Cooder, Rick Danko, Phil Everly, Ronnie Wood, and Linda Rondstadt, a true Queen in those days. I could go on forever, with music, ......and don't know where to stop at times, the 100+ concerts, Night Clubs, I've been to, by the age of 22, are too endless to mention most.... Stampedehero: Thanks for the feedback, it makes my day. If you are not aware, 59, and others are incredible music lovers too.....yet in the time its taken me to write this novel, they've mentioned a lot..... One of the benefits of living near the heart of formalism or fourmism, and being a young man, who wandered from club to club, show to show from 70 on....
I totally agree with you on Pink Floyd, "seeing Angels at an altar" I like that saying.... 59 would agree with you as well, if he doesn't mind me dropping his name, one of the if not the biggest PF fan I've chatted with, yet to meet..... Ol' Buck is not having so good a year. Seems almost like The O's loss in the ALCS took some steam out of the team. The Yanx won't meet the O's again, til July 21. Yet, its not at all to late, for the O's to regain ground, and battle for the Pennant. As crazy as this year has been, for the Yanx, yet with unexpected successes, it will be interesting to say the least, in the last half of this year, moreso come September 1st...
Thats a tremendous story. You and I have had experiences that people today reflect upon and wish they had a carbon copy of our youth. I always seek another who would appreicate the times we had more than the money we needed. Of course, in 1970 you could live on spam and breadsticks. Concerts were amazing experiences where everyone shared the same mental cohesion from the pungent smell that wrapped our nostrils and stoned our brains. My best concert deal ever was Deep Purple Black Sabbath and Humble Pie in 1970 for $12. I saw Jo Jo Gunn a couple times and they blew me away. Former Spirit members Mark Andes and Jay Fergeson headlined that band. Check out their song "Special Situations". Call me stamp. You and I are from the same cloth.
