Sounds like you've wasted a lot of free time over the year, FAMS!

I think a lot of people will disagree with Wes, including a lot of NBA teams.

But.... It only takes on team to agree. Lotta free cash out there his offseason.

I would LOVE TO BE PROVEN WRONG.

Please tell me what indication do you see that's he's staying? I know it hurts me too trust me but I moved on already I just wish he told us last year so we could have worked something out. That's all I'm pissed about..

What PROVEN indication has been shown that he's leaving, either?

    None. That's my indication.

Slow down, let the horse catch up to the cart, and hop back on.

I admit you have a point. (grumble, grumble)

All that is "proven" at this point is that Wes understands the Blazer fans and that LMA is being tone deaf.

What if Aldridge staying quiet helps our ball club? It's better to make other teams believe they have a shot at you, then overlook the free agent you are seeking, than to say outright "Hey I'm signing with the Blazers" leading all teams to forget him and compete against the players you seek.

If Wes understood Blazers fans, he wouldn't be announcing he's looking for $15mil/season.

NY media and their fans are going to kill that kid.

Krisraps isn't nearly as ready as Pau was at the same age. He needs a few years. The worst situation for him to walk into.

:bgrin: I see your point, but at least he gets that the fans are invested in the situation and want to know what is going on.

Well, duh. I post on this board, don't I?

I'm not saying LA is definitely going to re-sign; just that this buying into a bunch of reports that are based on unnamed sources is way premature. I believe Olshey when he says LA told him to relay that he hasn't made up his mind yet. I also believe that LA would call him on it if he were lying. I'm just going to sit back and see what happens in the next couple of weeks. If other people want to run around saying that the sky is falling, be my guest.

    Just givin' ya shit, FAMS.

I'm with you, though I see no reason for LA to come back. Shy of LBJ, I dunno how the roster comes back deeper, more well-rounded, primed for a run. I'm not hating. But we can sign LA, another max guy, and something else of uber-quality. Lotta money available, not a ton of free agents. Guys will be overpaid (even by NBA standards). I trust Neil, by all means, but I don't know how we're better next year than this past year. I know it sounds like bitching, I'm really not trying to sound that way, and I kinda like where we are, whether we re-tool or re-build from today forward.

I guess I'm saying what we potentially had this year was a great group of dudes that were as a complete unit better than the sum of its' parts. Unless you've got LBJ or something similar, that's how you win. As hard as it is to find talent, it's even harder to fill a locker room with that level of chemistry. Shoulda coulda woulda, but damn, it tailed with Wes' injury.

    THIS! THIS! THIS!!!!!

Seriously, For everyone who wants Aldridge to speak out on this is not even looking at the big picture and is just speaking with selfish emotion to reassure the fragility of their fandom.

The WORST thing LMA can do is speak out now. Mags is absolutely right. Let these teams pursue him thinking they have a shot, so we can undermine one of the teams and nail that third stud that LMA wants.
I would love this to be The Spurs and we were able to get Leonard, but I don't think he would want to come to Portland. But just think. SAS puts Leonard on hold to try to negotiate something with LMA. We then step in and give Leonard a nice healthy, near max. Then we re-sign LMA to the same. Then we use the players that we have acquired to fill in the missing pieces. I have no clue about cap space and I know this is a pipe dream, but LMA should NOT be speaking out on this at all. Let Neil work with all the cards in the deck.
    Looking something like this?

    Dame/Frazier
    CJ/Henderson
    Leonard/Crabbe
    LMA/Leonard/Freeland
    Plumlee/Kaman/Vonleh

    Would something like that work?

The other reason I don't think this would work, is because, though I think LMA would be a team player in something like this, not to a team from his home state. HE wont want to go home one day and deal with that.

I'd love for this to be the reality - I mean this is the shit they later write books about or put into movie- but really, I know it's only a few days away, but the po-po need to break up this bong circle.
