Nothing on this yet? For me it's about as close to a forgone conclusion he signs with us http://www.blazersedge.com/2015/6/28/8859479/al-farouq-aminu-portland-trail-blazers-free-agent
I haven't watched him enough and know it's not in the stats but what is the allure of this free agent and why are you ready to tie up a chunk of our cap for him before gauging the interest of some bigger more prominent free agents?
He was an Olshey fraft pick, so I am assuming his agent has a decent relationship with Neil. Nothing a little nudge, nudge, wink, wink, know what I mean, know what I mean, can't fix
yeah, but why do we use a chunk of our cap space on a guy who averages 6 pts a game. What's the value in him?
If they reach a deal, I'm sure they don't sign him until LA makes a decision. These things happen every year. Until the big names sign, not many deals are done.
6"9" SF. we need one of those. He goes against everything this team is about offensively and defensively, meaning he is a poor offensive player and a good defensive player. He would be a great signing, IMO. Probably more of a desperate move, or could be relationship based signing. Neil is a relationship salesman, so this could be one of those doing an agent a solid for a future move thing. Plus the guy is a legit NBA player, if not a star or prototypical Blazer
At 24, I have a hard time thinking this kid'so best offensive performances are not still yet to come. He has good size, good effort, go athleticism. Not a sexy pick, but if trying to maximize cap flexibility and sign two max-type players, a signing like this is a very shrewd move.
Sometimes it's not PPG that gives you the value. Sometimes it's how a player can cog into the machine you run. The "good news" is more of finally reading some "interest" in coming to Portland. I'm tired of reading how x player wants to leave.
we need guys to space the floor for Aldridge and Monroe in the post and for Lillard drives. Id rather start Connaugton at the 3
This is what i was thinking. In this offense, you need someone to hit the wide open shot. This dude here sounds more like Stacey Augmon who you couldn't trust to do that very thing. Great defensively and pretty good in the open floor.
He doesn't have to start. On the second unit he would be surrounded by shooters like Leonard and McCollum.
Aminu has been on my list as one of the more likely acquisitions this summer. If he wants to win, POR and NOP are the places he should look at. Having Neil as his first GM might give us a leg up.
If we add Monroe and Aminu we add 2 more 25yo players... We in theory got better talent more athletic and younger.
High motor guy, longer and smarter than TRob. Likely to be really cheap. (made under $1Mil last season) We could do worse for a back-up.
