Verizon 3G??? You'd think a former lottery pick making almost $4 million per year would be able to afford a 4G phone.

On the iPhone that changes depending on what kind of service you're currently getting. But in imaginary text message land, this is supposed to be a conversation on my phone and that's his contact name in my address book.

Sounds like they did do a great job of planning for LA leaving or staying, as they've been saying. Having a ton of cap, and a roster of pretty young and solid prospects is a good scenario either way.

But what's the point of all that cap space when we can't even retain our own star

I'm not sure I'd want him if it cost that much. Depends on who else is available first and what the teams needs are.

    8.5, 8.5, 8.5, 8.5, 8.5

    2.7 room

If LMA leaves I want a deep team.

Everyone thought the Hawks would be junk when they struck out on multiple free agents the last few summer but with their depth they had the second best record in the league.

Heck might be able to get Wes and Rolo in two of those 8.5 mil slots.

Millsap was signed for about that much two years ago. So we'd have three chances to add those type of players. Or four or five chances if we can't keep Wes and Rolo. Maybe we get lucky with one of them and he is a near all star. Maybe two of them are just quality starters but along with an improved CJ, an improved Meyers, three of last years starters, Mason, Vonleh and Gerald its a super deep fun team that makes some noise.

This is the only positive scenario I've thought of if LaMarcus leaves and we strike out on the top free agents. The NBA is so unpredictable heck LMA might regress the next few years and be poor value on his contract so regardless of what the moves look like in the next week we could be in a great spot 6 months from now.

I don't think Aldridge and DeRozan complement eachother well enough to be on the same team.
But who knows, perhaps Aldridge could play a bit more down low with DeRozan hogging the mid-range jumpers.

How much cap space do the Hawks have? Because if they are close to the cap (with cap holds) then they can only offer 120% of 9.5 MIL for Millsap and 120% of 2.4 MIL for DeMare Carroll. Don't have Bird Rights for either of those guys. Millsap should be a big target if LMA leaves and Carroll should be a big target if LMA stays. Carroll is going to get a huge raise from some team not named the Hawks.

Wow I hadn't noticed this before. You are correct they don't have the cap space to give those guys max contracts. Carroll could be a great target. Millsap is damn good too and such a matchup nightmare. Both can hit the three. Really either would be a great target. Millsap may have some good will towards our franchise since like Wes we gave him his first payday.

they still have $25M in cap space. more than enough to resign both players.

Not with other teams bidding against them. Millsap gets max (18 MIL) from a team that misses out on LMA or DeAndre and Carroll gets at least (but probably not more than) 12 MIL imo.

With all the drama that will be unfolding beginning in 24 hours, I've decided to fast-forward to July 1st and my free agency has now begun.

Boy, the local media is completely useless now that the Blazers are like the Ducks and nothing gets leaked. What use are they now, besides mudrucking and linking shit national media members made up? Twitter is like a coffin, not a peep out of any of them.
