There's still time for Aldridge to change his mind. But damn, it really looks like the LaMarcus era in Portland is coming to an end.
I wont, but I know others will and I honestly couldn't blame them. If you're gonna leave, you don't say shit like "i wanna be the best blazer ever", lead us on and convince us he is down for a 5 year contract and then bounces when it's offered.
You know, there needs to be a piece prepared for this. I mean, the hot take news cycle will show some poor crying Blazermaniac while someone else shouts FU LMA! while flamethrowing his jersey and someone holding a full-length poster of LMA with exploded knees with the caption "Stay Classy, Blazer fans!" Meanwhile, if someone was so inclined, they could pull years of quotes about him staying, multiple articles about being the best ever, etc. and (ir?)rationally show that this is how we grieve. Yes, we're better than that, but we also put a lot of ourselves (time, energy and $$) into a thing that is being dumped on for another lover.
Fuck yeah I will. The dude lied to us last offseason about resigning, then handled this process like an ass, then he quits to try to piggyback his way to a title on Tim Duncan's fat (ya know).
It'd be nice for him to come back so that sly doesn't have to ban 20 people for getting pissed when Nate starts his "I told you so" thread.
I thought I would only if he signed with LA, but.....I'm kind of feeling I will end up burning it anyway if he left. Just the natural reaction. I live a mile from bonfire pits so it's pretty easy for me. I can't believe he would want to give up being the best blazer ever. It'll be disgusting seeing him in historical records if he did leave.
Love the optimism Wook....but even you must concede that interview did not look at all good. It wasn't just the Hughes statements, to me clearly Leonard's comments suggested he expected a significant increase in minutes this year. The timing of the interview is the worst part of this for me. If it was already decided before free agency let Portland know. Burning jerseys? Grow up. You don't know he lied last season, maybe that was his view at that point in time. We all change our minds sometimes over the course of a year. Perhaps he saw how fragile the team was with the loss of Matthews and thought it wasn't going to result in a ring. He was right. And put yourself in his shoes. He is getting older every year, and his career ambition is to win rings. Tell me you wouldn't seriously considering changing employers if you were offered what you considered to be a) a better opportunity to better your career b) a job closer to family (some of whom may be unwell) c) in an area where you have grew up and have a better connection with. Tell me honestly you wouldn't consider that in your profession. Don't get me wrong, as a fan, i'm very disappointed in the way things (appear to have) panned out. But this is a business. Do the best you can and move on. Play the next guy. He may turn out to be even better.
