Be active at the trade dead line for outside help? Honestly IMO I'd say no. I think we have enough talent to stand pat for now. By going out & getting a 15-20M arm is just foolish because by doing so you have to knock out someone else from the rotation. In all likelihood that would be Eovaldi, who honestly has looked pretty good of late. So lets say they sign some like Hamels, basically what we've done is throw 2 productive starters (Warren & Eovaldi) into the pen while a non productive piece of shit like Sabathia stays in to supply nothing. Stand pat for now because with the kids we have in the minors I like our future & I really don't want to lose any of out top prospects. 1) Aaron Judge (23) (RF) - 13/49/286 with a .358 OBP for Trenton/SWB in 72 games & 283 ABs 2) Luis Severino (21) (RHP) - 3-0 with a 1.73 ERA & a 186 BAA & a 0.94 whip with SWB 3) Greg Bird (22) (1B) - 5/26/251 .347 OBP with Trenton 4) Rob RefSnyder (24) (2B) - 5/33/276 .370 OBP with SWB in 72 games (279 ABs) 5) Jorge Mateo (20) (SS) - 2/29/264 .321 OBP with Charleston in 69 games. Also has 53 SBs 6) Eric Jagielo (23) (3B) - 9/35/284 .347 OBP with Trenton in 58 games & 222 ABs Just to name a few, our future looks bright as long as ownership doesn't screw it up. JMO.
I say no also. I know I complain about performance now but I'm pretty excited about eventually seeing some of the youth. Severino should slot into the rotation next year. Judge and Refsnyder will be on the squad as well.
I wouldn't trade any of them unless we're talking about a young, proven outstanding player like....Mike Trout....LMAO...seriously though, I would include any two or three of those players in a trade for a Mike Trout....and I know this was a ridiculous suggestion....just tossing it out there. Jagielo appears to be a real keeper..LH 3b with power playing his games at YS..his numbers are improving as he has moved up from "rookie A ball" to AA. Currently batting .284 with an OPS of .842....he looks as "real" as just about any other Yankee youngster. Mateo has to stay....by indications and reports, he has a ton of talent at the SS position. And of course Severino and Judge.... Let's not forget about Williams and Heathcottt...both kids have shown some flair and GOOD baseball skills. I know Heathcott has trouble staying healthy...tough break for this kid. Imo- he's very talented WHEN he's on the field.
I too would say no... and these kids will get a chance as long as we don't sign any more players to horrendous contracts... But with Cashman at the helm... who knows...
Yeah like I said I really hope that Cashman doesn't go after any of these high priced players because if he does you know at least one of these kids are going to be sacrificed
How many times is this organization going to go down that road, and for what.....a couple of playoff games and an over-the-hill athlete with a past fortune and little future. I'm patient for a new CORE 4.
what and split up the Core 24, now 25....... just checking, Trashman and Hank, don't know a core from a choir girl or Rick's apple core....... " a peach, a pear or a coconut please"......!!! @ the 1:05 min/sec mark......
I just hope Cashman doesn't screw this up & saddle the org with another fat contract at the trade deadline.
