Loved you Iron Man.. What a shitty way to go out but you were a pleasure to watch and root for! I wish him nothing but the best, dont take LMA with you!
One of my favorite Blazers and I'll root for him this year. Think I might be a Mavs fan when they don't play us.
I'll miss Wes. Was full of determination and heart. But Wes has thought for a long time he wouldnt be back in Portland. Felt that Portland kept looking for a replacement for him. No link to give, just chatter ive heard from people that have business ventures with him
god damnit dallas wasnt #withwes it's like from the mid point last season to summer everyone went from top of the world happy to play team ball for best fans in nba to fuck this city.
The first summer Wes was here he did a scavenger hunt on twitter, put out clues and you have to figure out where he was. I found him in the garden section of the Interstate Fred Meyers. I was the first one there (I think there were only 10 people using twitter at the time so it wasn't that much of an accomplishment.) Anyway, he was great. Got to talk with him for a while. Really great guy. He also gave me a $50 Freddy's gift card for being the first to find him. Good times....
I honestly would've rather kept Wes than LA.... This one hurts. Brandon Roy was my all time favorite blazer so I was reluctant to Wes at first. Wes' play turned me into a believer and a huge fan. Will be greatly missed. Don't rule out a return in a couple years as a bench player..........
Huge heart! Back with Canales and Felton in Dallas. Iron man will be fine. A pleasure having him in the pinwheel and good to see him hit the ground running! Much joy to Wes!
Wes, You were originally brought in to be Brandon Roy's backup, be a tough-defending swingman who wouldn't complain about a reserve role. In truth you were a knight in shining armor, confidently taking over the starting spot from a broken all-NBA star. They say "you never want to be the guy that follows 'the man'," but you took that assignment with gusto, and never looked back. We didn't know just what we had in you, but we know now. From that point, you became a defensive anchor, a feared offensive weapon, and the heart of our team. Most importantly, after the heartbreak of Roy's fragility, you helped us heal, and bridged the gap to our return to respectability. Your contributions to Rip City cannot be overstated. When you went down, our hearts broke with yours, because we knew it was not only the end of something special this season, but possibly the end of Iron-man in Portland. We're saddened by your departure, but we celebrate your recovery and your good fortune. Unlike some in this league, we can say with confidence that you have earned and deserve every penny of your new deal. While we'll always be Blazer fans, wherever you go, we'll remain Wes Matthews fans as well.
I really hope he's able to bounce back from his injury. Man, this one stings a little. Easily my favorite Blazer since Brian Grant. Slainte
