Well at least the Blazers are in that sentence.

@KBergCBS: One source stopped short of describing other teams (beyond obvious) as eliminated. But Spurs, Suns, Blazers at top of Aldridge's list.

Okay I must interupt. When was the last time we had enough cap space to land a max player? Honest question because I've been watching this team since 85 and I don't remember once.

Only this summer was when we had that opportunity. This is actually our first swing.

If... if.... Lamarcus comes back, does it change the remainder of the free agent targets? IMO if he goes we continue to target young guys. But if he stays we should go for a couple veterans to round it out. Maybe Ridnour as a backup PG.

This has the feeling of when LeBron left Cleveland.

I'm glad that we're supposedly still in the running, but it sure seems like the Blazers name was just thrown in there out of pity.

It says the Blazers have a chance, therefore I give it credibility.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Aldridge can hedge against that by signing a one- or two-year deal. In fact, that might even be what the multiple meetings are about, the structure of a deal. A one- or two-year deal is anyway advantageous to him, since he can sign a new deal after the cap explodes while still in his prime (though heading out of it soon). It also gives him the opportunity to avoid watching the team crumble around him.

I already compared it to the other squads. Brandon Knight or Eric Gordon ain't Lillard. Spurs will have to reload in 1 year.

Cap is good because we can absorb large contracts. We have excellent flexibility for a team to dump players or us to sign them outright.

Trying makeshift voodoo. I'm officially delusional from staring at a computer for three days. Also very bored and a little drunk.

LA is gone. I'd like to say I appreciate the pity vote from LA, but it's become laughable. The pity vote only is making this look sad and pathetic.

Soldier-for-hire, eh? It'll take him time to learn a new system and to get acclimated to new teammates and cities. There are advantages to stability, staying with the same team. Will he get a max contract starting at the age of 32? It just seems risky to me. OTOH, I can see the appeal of retiring in LA where he lives during the offseason, so moving around may make some sense.

I think he is having trouble cutting ties so we are included in the Final-3 but in the end, he is gone.

Yeah, agreed. Always figured LA would keep us in it 'til the end, so as not to slap us in the face after so many years. So this feels like I was expecting it to end, especially after striking out of our outside FA targets. So, SA or PHX wins, we're #2, and the other team is third.

    Ironic.

Because I blame Obama for LMA leaving Portland.
