Doesn't know how to play around the rim, on offense or defense.

I look for him to do a lot of conditioning and slowly add some big man skills. His biggest problem in playoffs was he was going so hard he was completely gassed. It was refreshing to watch a guy leave it all on the floor and give it his all. Love the way he sky's for quick rebounds. Condition to run and step up the pace. Get it so he can go hard for 8-10 minutes at a time. Instead of 3-5.

A lot of times he was running on pure rose garden induced adrenalin, I fucking loved it.

Interested to see what he does when defenses scheme for him

2K15 capable? jk...anyway I think this guy can give us 20/10 nights....he'll probably average, 16-18/10. He has the defense Aldridge didn't, and without Aldridge and Rolo's presence he is going to break out...beast mode time

Me as well. That will be the sure sign of readiness. If this cat is actually performing at an efficient level, even being the third or 4th option, we got a damn good player on our hands

Yea he'll finally get that chance this year. Hell I think he could play next to Davis.

Memphis did a good job scheming for him, but centers aren't great at running out on shooters at the edges. It's not their game. I would expect to see a lot of switching the guard onto Leonard and making him handle a little guy. I'm not super-confident he can handle that yet.

But here's the silver lining: as long as he eventually learns to handle defensive schemes in a year or two, what happens this year and possibly next year doesn't matter as much. Let him fail until he succeeds.

We need to bring in a coach who can teach our big guys to set strong picks.

A Dame/Leonard pick and roll, or pick and pop is just deadly. The fact that he can do both well makes him a major weapon. Throw in Davis crashing the hoop for O-boards, and add some shooters on the wings, and that spacing would make our offense unstoppable.

Defense is another story, but that will come.

    This.

A little guy is unlikely to bother his shot much, but he's going to have to start learning how to play inside at some point. Running a lot of failed Meyers post ups should be fine honestly. Maybe Chris teaches him a thing or two.

To me Leonard was the most improved player on the team last season. I think he's a very underrated passer. He can throw with heat and throw a strike all the way downcourt on a dime. The kid has some great basketball skills and the right work ethic. For his age, the sky is the limit. He needs to get more lower body strength to bang in the post but most of all he needs playing time and now he's going to get plenty of it

It'll depend on how fast his release is, how well guards can handle him... Maybe they can't block his shot, but if they flop when he tries to cut by them, Meyers has a reputation for fouling, so he might get neutralized that way.

I think he will end up around 14/9 in 28 mpg or so.

And supposedly he has been working on his post moves all summer...

1,000% agree. We really need to take advantage of the pick and roll. We were absolutely horrible last season and the season before. Ironically, this was supposed to be Dames strongest attribute in his game.

If we don't bring in that coach, then Olshey and Stotts better study the fuck out of Utah during 1988-2001

I was impressed how much improvement he made last season in that department. He didn't pick up fouls quickly like his first two seasons. He stayed on the court

What I like about Meyers is his youthful exuberance, his joie de vivre, his enthusiasm, and his obvious desire to do well. I have no doubt he's working on specific parts of his game this summer as instructed. The question is, other than probably a couple of sessions with Kaman, who is instructing him now?

film and Kaman..CJ and Meyers are known to be guys who watch a lot of film. He's had 3 years of bootcamp and I think he's ready for the next step. What he needs is to be playing a lot of basketball and to stay healthy

Any word on whether he's playing in summer league?

It would be groovy if CJ and Meyers are watching film together and sharing their observations, and more importantly, working out together and getting some chemistry and timing down. Quarterbacks and receivers spend big chunks of summers doing just that, and I've never heard of one saying it didn't pay off.
