@ThomasCDee: #knicks were in play for Lee via a three-way trade with Portland, per source, but Phil Jackson "didn't want any former Isiah players." #NBA Interesting.
POR/NYK/GS The contracts are large. We would've for sure sent out Kaman. Calderon likely would've been sent here. Maybe Neil was trying to poach Barnes?
Neil isn't going to absorb any large expiring deals like this because he's going after a RFA or two, that's the only way it makes sense to not do this.
Possible, but I'm curious how much difference the Wallace to Lee contract effects if they reach lux tax?
I don't think they will. They can open up max cap space next off-season if they just let Wallace expire, so I doubt they're going to want to push any of his money into next year. They'll pay the luxury tax for one season, but even a $5 million reduction in salary amounts to a fair amount of savings when the luxury tax is factored in.
Here's an article discussing the trade. http://www.mercurynews.com/warriors...iors-trading-david-lee-celtics-gerald-wallace
From what I've read, this would save the Warriors around $13-15 million in taxes, on top of the $5.5 million in salary. So it could be up to a $20.5 million savings.
