That's funny. I remember two guys in high school arguing which show was better, Seinfeld or Martin. They came pretty damn close to duking it out.
Outrage culture isn't just the province of bored milennial women, though... the Gamergate assholes have quite a nice bit of horrific outrage.
I think "sjw" is a funny term that makes people froth at the mouth when someone calls them it, but it does seem to be very over used these days.
That whole thing is a mess that made everyone look bad. On the one hand you had the crazy feminists, and on the other the crazy neckbeards being spurred on by clickbait right wing sites like Breitbart.
It confuses me. Making fun of someone because they want social justice? I mean what the fuck? Do people really not want justice? That's like mustache twirling villain talk.
It's a funny internet meme directed at neckboard keyboard slacktivists, or that's the way I take it at least.
Yeah, but I don't think the current usage is making fun of the slacktivism as much as the posting about women like they're normal people thing. The Sad Puppies and Rabid Puppies movement in the Hugos really like the term SJW, but to them it means "libtard fiction about feelings". It's mutated out of the "it's about ethics in journalism" specificity into "shut up about white guys being privleged".
I think I stopped watching after the 2nd or 3rd season, can't remember why. I should probably go back and watch it. Have you seen Dark Matter on SyFy? It's Canadian and a complete rip off of Firefly but it's actually pretty good.
I'll never forgive SyFy for cancelling Farscape, so no I haven't seen the show yet. I'll give it a try on Hulu or something later though. As for Farscape, it gets crazy in the 4th season, but there's some great episodes in there. I have the materials if you ever need them, but I think it's on Hulu.
Let's be honest here... Being a mustache twirling villain would be the funnest occupation in the world. It's why Meyers is growing his out. #baleedat
