Am I wrong or is Ibaka's contract also up next season? If so, that makes it less likely they match.

I think in 2 years. He's up when Westbrook is up I believe.

That's still a lot of contracts Bennett is going to have to deal with coming up, is his fourth or fifth best player really what he wants to spend a chunk of the cap on?

Then that makes it a worthless throwaway statement that applies to nearly all free agents.

Yeah, just confirmed it. He has 2 more seasons. I guess that could play a role as well. They have all those players to re-sign and it's going to be difficult to trade him. I'm starting to lean towards them not doing it.

I was replying to a comment that implied kanter wouldn't have any motivation to work on his defense because of what he's getting paid. I'm just countering that having your ex team deem you not worthy might give him that motivation

Kanter may not play great D but he does shoot well from the line. Seems our bigs would compliment each other well. Leonard and he good at O and shooting from the line. Davis and Plumlee good at D including blocks and then dunks.

A kanter/davis pairing just might work. Same with plumlee/legend with the second unit.

    Quadruple Towers!

Legend plays SG again! Kanter at SF! Plumlee and Davis at PF/C! Dame running the show! What a magnificent disaster that would be!

Did you not see the posted video of Kanter running the floor? Put him at PG and throw Kaman out there b

If we actually get this guy, what do you think the Kaman trade that surely must be lined up is?

I just can't see OKC paying that much luxury tax for a guy that only gives them offense when they already have Durant and Westbrook taking the majority of the shots.
You're talking about potentially 2 top 5 scorers in the NBA next year. Remember Kanter didn't play a single game with both KD and RW on the floor, so they have never had to share the ball 3 ways. Kanter's only real value is offense and it certainly takes a hit sharing the ball with Durant and Westbrook. Combine that with poor defense and it's just wtf for OKC.

Kanter gets plenty of touches in Portland and can reach his full potential.

While this is logical, I still think presti matches for some reason.

This may have been mentioned, but I think this is a shrewd move by Neil. If OKC matches, they wont have the money to sign Durant, and we make a run at him. If they don't, then at the very least we hurt a division rival, and bring in a good prospect (in 26 games with OKC, he averaged 18 points and 11 boards) with money we had laying around.
