I'm being positive: He'll be fun to watch, but after preseason, there will be few minutes to watch him. He's 2 years away from Will Barton's crazy rookie season. He's already age 22, so maybe he'll give good interviews.

Maybe I'll designate him my favorite player of the season, so I can defend him against all you guys when you turn against him about 3 weeks in.

I think anyone that's realistic realizes he will be a project that won't play this season. Hard to turn on that.

Quite right. It's just an interesting story because it's not everyday a kid out of Community College has a shot to make an NBA roster. Extremely raw but with skills not a lot of players at 6'7" have. An extreme long-shot to be able to get those skills to a point of being polished enough to be part of an NBA rotation....but still a good story.

I realize this guy has skills you can't teach but what is his upside. A future All star, a quality starter, what?

I saw a guy that has the potential to impact both ends of the court, so I'll say his upside is quality starter at least.

The one big thing that's still to be answered is does he have the drive to get better, and does he have the killer instinct to realize his potential. Otherwise well just have another batum on our hands.

Personally I'd be fine with a cheaper version of Batum if that's his ceiling.

From what I saw of Montero he displayed some skills that Batum simply does not possess. In the 7 years that we had the skinny frenchman, I have never seen him do an in and out dribble cross someone over and go to the rack. Hell I've been doing that since before my frosh year... Did Batum ever penetrate dish/kick??

Is that your fan perspective, or your referee perspective? I just want to know if I am qualified to agree with you.

When I mentioned batum I was more talking about mentality/not reaching your potential rather than comparing their games.

Body type is similar. Ball handling too. Penny had a great post game though but wasn't much of a 3pt shooter. I think montero will probably be a good shooter from outside. If he has a post game he hasn't shown any of it yet.

The entire Blazer fandom experience reminds me of his victims.

    Ill stop at some point.

But I'd remind you that I wasnt the one who made the silly comment in the first place.

How long ago did "deal coming soon" happen? People still bring that up. Not complaining, mind you, just sayin
