He could turn it around in Houston. John Lucas specializes in cases like Lawson. They get an All-Star caliber PG for nothing.
U r also right, they DO make that team unwatchable (actually, I haven't watched them since they got Hobo Harden); I hate/have always hated D-Bag AND D-Bag12!
Rockets got Josh Smith for nothing last year. Now they get Lawson for almost nothing. If they could ever get a halfway decent PF, they would be favorites in the West.
He really isn't. I can't think of anyone else who puts up more hollow numbers than Jones and Montiejunas It'd be like having Hickson/Bargnani as your PF rotation.
Lawson makes them WORSE. He's a terrible fit next to Harden and another bad "leader". He's a bad defender, and always needs the ball in his hands to be effective. And that's the description for both Harden and Lawson.
I'll accept/go w/ the lead of the collective on this 1; as I said, I haven't watched HOU. games in long time (unless they play us), I just watch enough film on some of their players (& some on other teams) strictly for fantasy b-ball purposes
How is it lateral? Lawson was an all star and he's a much better upgrade than Beverly. Now you have Beverly come off the bench? Seems like a move the needle trade to me
Lawson has never been an all star. Off the ball offensively he isn't any better then Beverly. And guess what, when you have James Harden your PG is going to be primarily off the ball! When he has the ball he'll be better, but it won't be often enough to make up for his defense, which Beverly has an edge on by a ton. And in the Western Conference, you need a defensive PG, not your defensive PG locking down Shaun Livingston and Austin Rivers, which almost negates the impact he can make. Plus, Lawson is a locker room cancer, and when you have no true leaders on the team, it makes bad locker room presences even worse. You have to look deeper then "OMG he averaged 18 and 8, he's a huge upgrade!", because there's a such thing as chemistry, cohesion, and matching skillsets together to make a product greater then its parts. It's the same reason K Love is nowhere near as good in Cleveland compared to Minnesota, and why Dame will put up better stats this year without Aldridge
