Far cry from the 4 MIL that Delly wanted. Maybe he thinks he can cash in better next summer?

Mods, please add the word "contracts" to the thread title.

Because the players will never play here.

And he has Mo Gotti back in CLE as competition, so his PT might get cut a bit.

    Stupid decision I say

would be my best guess. Otherwise no reason to pass up security of longer deal at his tier.

I see some folks saying that CLE got the greater value out of the trade because we only got 2 2nd rounders. You have to look at it from a team to team perspective, the trade was valuable for each team in their own rights. Both teams gained something. Sure it LOOKS better for CLE but they are in a completely different situation than POR is. They are contending, Portland isn't. We gained two more assets for NOTHING. It really is that simple.

Wrong. Trades can be a win for each team. It's not an either or between the two teams. Look at the Blazers before and after the trade; does it make them better? This is a very minor trade but in a minor sense I say yes they are now better.

Picks are one of the scarcest commodities of NBA teams. How you and me buy goods with money NBA teams buy players with picks. The Blazers are in a better position to buy a player because of this trade. Shortsided win now thinking as in your post is why Brooklyn, New York and the Lakers are in the pickles they've created.

Sure but the deadline is in a couple days when it becomes guaranteed. No reason to do so.

Yep. Bfw already clued me in to that. But thanks. Gives me hope that Neil might still deal Miller for another asset.

I made the bad mistake of wandering into the OLive forum this weekend after a long absence. If you folks ever see a husky old guy wandering the streets with "stupid" tattooed on his forehead, that would be me....

True Blazer fan, if you can't have it yourself, light it on fire so no one else can either! I am proud of you!
