    ESPN News Services:

Dave Dombrowski has been released from his contract as Detroit Tigers general manager and Al Avila, who served as the team's assistant GM, will replace Dombrowski.

"I feel this is the right time for the Tigers to move forward under new leadership," owner Mike Ilitch said in a statement Tuesday.

Having an MVP pitcher and a Triple Crown Winner just wasn't enough.
Looks like the guy who tried to get away with "REBOOTING" the team finally got the boot himself.
The record stands as- Zero WS titles in 13.5 years (?)

I hope the Shane Greene acquisition didn't have anything to do with it...after all, it was an idiot that traded Greene to Dombrowski.

...I agree, but unfortunately there will be some who will myopically see things in a different light.

Yeah sure, as soon as the Yanks fall out of first place.
I hope this doesn't sound myopic.

"Its a wonderful life "what was the line in that movie by mr potter , 'NOT WITH MY MONEY!!

what is it you don't get about a GM?

Every single movie ever made about a sport, and who controls everything is all about the owner! how do you continue to NOT believe that a GM is simply a mouth piece for the owner, that he better know how to best interpret the owners every desire and that is what his sole responsibility is.

Watching the movie FOXCATCHER, the part where Dave wanted his brother mark to be taken care of financially, who answered? Du pont the freak was seated beside them, did not say a word. It was his manager that set the rules based upon what he knew DuPont would allow. Live it , learn it. No shoes no shirt no service!

They're not firing Cashman in order to hire Dombrowski so I'm not sure that would even be brought up.

The Yankees can hire Dombrowski, then demote Cahman to a position he so richly deserves, clubhouse PLO. If I were Steinbrenner I'd be on Dombrowski like white on rice.

...if you don't mind, we'll develop our own opinions.

...again, there's a big difference between "should" and "would"?...and NOBODY said the y "would".

...if you disagree, fine, but don't presume to decide what ideas can and cannot be discussed.

Ok, so why can't I have an opinion that it's stupid to even discuss it?

...have I ever said your opinion or idea is "stupid"?

...pretty simple, if you don't want to be in the discussion you don't have to respond.

...my God, do we really need your's or anyone else's approval as to what worthy of discussing or not?

I'll respond as I wish. If it hurts your feelings I'm sorry. I think it's stupid and I said as much.

...and we'll post as we wish (unless we've violated some rule)...if it hurts your feelings I'm sorry.

I'm not the one who started the discussion and I'm sure the OP can put his big boy pants on and speak for himself. Really no need for this idiotic argument.
