The news here is, it was supposedly definitively his last year this year. Now, he is leaving the door open for another return, although he did say this could absolutely be his last year.

If he were to return, I'd love it. It would fuck the Lakers over, again! Or, they would give him the DWade treatment, tell him to take less money (LOL KOBE YA RIGHT) or tell him he is done in LA.

I'd love to see those fireworks pop off.

Damn that Olshey for trading away part of our cap space for those 2nd round draft picks, now we don't have enough cap space to trade for Kobe.

Shit he's a free agent next year, let's hope we don't strike out on all of our top targets again and have to get him next summer.

I wonder if we could pay him $10 mill as a player and $10 mill to be the head coach?

At least it won't be his last year of relevance, because that was a few years ago.

I think he'll end up going to a contender just to chase a ring to match up with Jordan's. Maybe SA or GS.

How many does he need to catch Jordan? Just one?
I wonder if one more ring is worth destroying a legacy. Seems like playing your whole career for one team, then jumping ship at the tail end kinda tarnishes the career. Especially in his case where he's won multiple championships, vs guys like Malone/Payton who just wanted to get one ring before retiring. However, going out on an abysmal lotto team after being the player of a generation has got to suck. But he's got nobody but himself to blame for that!

Yeah, he's been irrelevant for 3+ years, its probably eating him inside.

Similar to the way Jordan's career was tarnished by his two years playing for the Wiz, or how Olajuwon's legacy was impacted by his final year in Toronto, right?

I'll be sad to see Kobe go. For all the shit the guy has gotten (some warranted, some not) he's been amazing to watch as a player. For real basketball fans, it's been a treasure to watch him play.

Yeah yeah, f the Lakers lolz

Well, I was specifically listing players who had (to that point) spent their entire career with one team and led that team to multiple titles, since Payton and Malone were already mentioned as being a different situation.

Yes, actually. At least Jordan had ownership as an excuse, but I think it did detract from his legacy by putting on another uniform.

    Doesn't compare.
Drexler left for a championship while he was still relevant and played 4 seasons in HOU.
Barkley played on three teams - he wasn't a legacy player.
Already addressed Payton/Malone (but I personally think it's a stain on their legacies):
Pierce is going on his 4th team - no longer a legacy player.

Kobe playing one more year on another team would be like Tim Duncan leaving the Spurs for the final year of his career.

I'd love for Kobe to keep playing, especially if he left the Lakers for NY or something, imagine THAT shit show.
