I just think that Blazer fans are always a little biased towards their own players. I'm sold in the opposite. But right now I think Id only give up Vonleh or Leonard, McCollum, Plumlee, a 1st, and a couple 2nds. I'd try to add Davis or Aminu plus another protected 1st to get McLemore as a CJ replacement, and to clear more cap space. What is the most you'd give?
For Boogie alone? Vonleh/Plumlee/CJ, no picks. Feels steep to me, but I'd probably try it. For McLemore, Henderson and a future first. Doesn't sound like you and I are too far apart, but I wouldn't want to give up three prospects AND multiple picks for Cousins. Three young and/or liquid assets total for him max, not five or six.
the 1st would be lotto protected so I'd add that, especially down the road. Clevelands 2020 2nd rounder will be late, could add that. I think Leonard or Vonleh and Cousins would be a great frontcourt but I'd trade either and our 8th or 9th pick (whatever we get next year) for 2nd to get Skal Labissiere. Skal and DMC is a match made in heaven.
bruh if you wouldn't trade that much for the best center than you should be happy if we stay mediocre.
It will be interesting to see how much weight he puts on in the next year. Right now he would have to start out as a SF. But he could pull it off.....on offense.
He'll put on about 15 pounds and be like Anthony Davis in terms of build when he comes into the league
Boogie can't protect the rim, play man defense, or shoot 3's. The NBA has changed to a league where effective big men usually do some of those. He has work ethic and attitude questions; yes they may improve with a new team but it's still a concern. Compare him with the historical hall of fame players whom basically never have those questions and it's a legit reason to be cautious. He's a legit talent and voted an allstar above Damian. So there is certainly promise. But he's not a for sure fit and there is a lot of risk with bringing him in to be a pillar of a team. His contract is up in 2018. Yes that sounds like awhile but we wouldn't be able to build a contender this season; so at the earliest we'd target the 2017 playoffs where he would only have one more year left on his contract and he could leave for nothing. LaMarcus got to the second round and the next year a 4th seed but still left for nothing. There's a very real chance Boogie could follow that path. Compare that with a rookie contract player like Vonleh who we can have for 7 more years. Since the Kings traded away their picks tanking isn't an option; I just don't see them having interest in a Boogie trade. Maybe months into the future if he is playing poorly and the team is such a mess they think they would actually be better on the court with new players coming in. But they would want players with proven production and none of the Blazers except Dame have that. 6 of the 7 best NBA teams are in the west. A number of them will decline in a few seasons. There is no quick fix for the Blazers to contend so we are better off patiently accumulating assets. When we have more valuable assets we can look at consolidation trades or acquiring stars. But we aren't there yet. Trying to rush the process won't be good enough to contend now nor leave us enough upside players to contend later.
