With this move, I smell Bum desperation at its best or worst........

The Bums initially drafted Chase in the 2nd round of the 97 Draft, but Utley chose to attend UCLA instead, (a good move, since the Phils made him their #1 draft pick in 2000).......

The Dodgers are paying $85.75MM for eight players no longer with the organization, Hector Olivera‘s $28MM signing bonus is the biggest expenditure on the list. Dodgers invested $62.5 million in Olivera, over six years. Even when they knew Hector was not healthy and looking at Surgery.....

and, - the Dodgers are currently paying for 25 percent of the Marlins payroll.

Geezus, just what they don't need, really.....tho' with Kendrick out on the 15 day DL, ya' know this will be a short career in L.A. for Utley. His Contract ends at years end, and I doubt He will be tendered an offer. The Bums depth charts is ridiculously filthy. More like absurd, by handing out contracts to players who need surgeries, PRIOR to the Bums offering contracts, and the Bums fkn know many of the player they've signed either need surgery, or are recovering from one, and are still in PT and not on a field, yet the Fkn Bums sign 'em anyway......

I can NOT recollect any year, or any team, who spent so much damn money on players, who are not ready to play at all, due to awaiting surgery or Post Surgical PT......this is nutz......

With as many journeymen as I've ever seen on any Depth Chart; for Utility Players, on the roster and in AAA, they've got these guys who either play 2nd base, or can play 2nd,....

    begin with the Gold Glover:
    1- Darwin Barney
    2- Darnell Sweeney
3- Justin Turner- Turner has turned out to be the surprise of the Bums, and can play about any position with moxy....He should be considered as a full time player, as much as any Bum........

    4- Peraza a SS/3b man, can play 2nd,
    5- Ron Torreyes
    6- KiKi Hernandez
    7- Elliot Johnson
    8- Luis Mateo

9- Hector Olivera: Traded to Atlanta

10- Alex Guerrero a natural SS, who's been playing 3rd or LF, (still needs some maturing with glove and defense, started out hotter than hell with His bat, with 4 come from behind walk off RBI's or HR's in May alone. 1 more come from behind win this year; (after the 6th inning while trailing), than the only 3 pitiful, come from behind wins, the Bums had all of last year..........

    11- Buck Britton

    totally fkn absurd..........

Now add Chase, while Howie sits for another week, on the 15 day DL, only........ WTF........???

IMO, if Mattingly can't get to the Series, or even lose an NLCS, then he's as good as gone, tho' I've not heard otherwise. It's a known fact, IF the Bums don't go to the Series, heads will roll, and I doubt they can get past St. Louis, Frisco, or the Nats and Mets.....

    On acquiring Bronson Arroyo:

Arroyo had Tommy John surgery last July, so he's not a factor until 2016 at the earliest. But in reality, he's just another monetary cost in a deal that will see the Dodgers give up Hector Olivera, and four fringe minor leaguers.

Arroyo, 37, makes $9.5 million in 2015, with roughly $3.4 million remaining. He has a $13 million club option for 2016 with a $4.5 million buyout, per Cot's. That's a total of $7.9 million, though will be offset by some unknown amount from the Braves per The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The point is that Arroyo is unlikely to ever actually pitch for the Dodgers, but is rather just an addition to the cost for acquiring Mat Latos, Alex Wood, Jim Johnson, Luis Avilan and Jose Peraza.

According to Tim Flannery on MLB Tonight 7 games remain between the Giants and Dodgers and if the Giants somehow manage to hang tight until September things could get interesting out there. In the case of Utley no doubt a rental but if he's got something in his tank he could be an asset. Thing that cracks me up is that the Dodgers have the Tampa Bay and Oakland cheapies in there and the won lost record does not bode well with the talent, the new arrivals have not come up to expectations, we will see.

Funny thing is he turned down the Giants because he'd only be a rental with Panik coming back in the near future. And yet he went to the Dodgers with the same situation. Guess he just wanted to be reunited with Rollins.

One huge factor in going to LA, Utley is a SOCAL guy so he's now at home playing baseball for the Dodgers.

Indeed, Chase born in Pasadena, raised and played High School ball in Long Beach @ Long Beach Polytechnic High, (one of L.A.'s best or Top 10-20 High School baseball programs. Then, onward to UCLA, (my own Alma Mater).........

Altho' I expect this could be a short stay for Chase, when Kendrick comes off the DL. Either way its good to see return home, and I hope he has a better career here than in Philly, (in the last 2 years)......

The Bums depth charts b/t the Big Club and AAA is absurdly as ridiculous as an Obsessive Compulsive Dis-order Owner, ie Guggy, the fk....!!!
