Teixeira done for season with leg fracture http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/820771 (via http://thesco.re/theScore_app )
Just heard, Steve I was going to post it on the game thread and now I don't. So he played 2 games with a leg fracture?? Wow
I remember saying that these bad bone bruises always end up being a fracture of some kind. It's too bad considering the season he was having and will now remain a major impact on this team's offense. I guess we look forward to his walk year next season and hopefully Bird keeps progressing as suitable replacement.
You did Vic on one of the Game Threads when I posted he was going back to NY for more tests. This sucks.
Now Bird will get a real test. 5HRs & 17 RBI in 24 games, production isn't bad but he needs to cut down on the strike outs.
He was brittle before the season began. Wow. His "bump" really cost him and the team...... and he did it to himself.
Not worried about Bird's strikeouts because he has shown he can get deep into the counts. He isn't afraid of hitting with 2 strikes. Most of his K's have been swing and miss, not starring at strike 3.
wow, now that puts a damper on things, not only having a great year offensively, but his defense!!! as captain of the infield, wow... this really sucks. man o man does girardi have his hands full
Can you imagine how Bird must feel, First Baseman for the New York Yankees in a pennant race, damn what a sudden responsibility. Going to miss the "D" that Tex provided but I think Bird will be OK. Bottom line is that the regulars all step up.
Let's hope Bird can make us forget about Tex, tho' its unlikely IMO. Not saying Bird can't handle the load, yet to reach and succed in PS, will depend a helluva lot on "bye bye Birdie" or bye bye Post Season, chances.....
