Specifically, would the Kids ever let Derek become a minority owner, or better yet, sale the Team, they are and will destroy. A team, we all know is the Most Decorated in all Sports, a Team of Dynasties like no other.......

    clip:

"I would love to be part of an ownership group," Jeter said. "I would love to own a team. I would not want to manage, coach, anything like that. The travel schedule is very, very difficult, and I've been doing it for a long time. And so I would like to get away from that a little bit and hopefully be in a position one day where I can make all of the decisions."

Jeter has spoken openly about that desire for years, believing that his management model would incorporate some -- but not all -- of his experiences playing under late owner George M. Steinbrenner. Jeter has gained an enthusiastic supporter in Commissioner Bud Selig

Jeter told Sporting News his “ultimate” goal is to own a team.

The Yanx can only Benefit IMO, with Jeter as either an Owner, or Owner/GM Combo...........what a concept

Here's an URL for Googling Jeter's desire to Own a MLB Team, not the flipping Buffalo Bills, neither...............as you see, there's been plenty of news coverage on this issue........

The issue these days is the value of sports franchises are through the roof so if you're going to own a team it's likely going to be one in very bad shape and undervalued.

    True, no doubt......

With Franchises in all sports (more or less) being over valued, due to over spending to buy a team; ie, Bums 2 Billion $$$ buy, Clippers offer of 3-4X their worth..........

Manipulation and Inflation of Team Values; is killing sports......

The television contracts are putting team values around sports into another orbit.

Exactly, and we can begin with Time Warner Bros Cable:

TWC committed $8.35 billion for a 25-year hold on Dodgers rights.

TWC says it spent $30 million in Q2 for Dodgers rights — contributing to a $148 million, or 11%, increase in programming costs from last year’s quarter to $1.49 billion.

Sick, when Sports Athletes become commodities in lieu of Players.....

Saw an article on baseballs wealthiest players. Jeter was valued at 185 million which should more than qualify him to get in on an ownership group. Be cool to see him in with the Yankees in that capacity so there'd be some one in the "brain trust" that knows the Yankees are about winning.

Old Johnny Cash record: "Oh What A Dream". I could visualize Jeters first ownership group assignment would be to fire Cashman.
