http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/se...ootball-players-attacked-referee-blame-coach/ Two high school football players from Texas who viciously attacked a referee earlier this month appeared on Good Morning America this week to tell their side of the story. Flanked by their attorney, the players said it was a coordinated attack planned by a coach. “I can’t explain it,” said one of the players. “I was doing what I was told. A player came over and told me the coach told me to do it.” I don't believe it for a minute, throw anyone under the bus but don't take responsibility..........in general, kids today are taught to not take ownership for their actions, ..........what a fkn fiasco.......!!!
While I assumed a coach or coaches were involved, in my mind, these players lost any credibility when they immediately went into the mode of blaming the official for making a racial slur and now this claim. Now I don't believe or want to hear a single word they have to say. They don't play football anymore and they should stay in the alternative school.
IMO, the coach shouldn't get off Scott free, but ultimately, they hit the ref, not the coach even if he said to do so
There's a lot of elements to this story....jumping on the band wagon and crucifying these kids is premature.
...but they not should get a pass either...even if they were instructed by the coach/es to do it, they're mature enough to know it was wrong.
