It does seem that way. I mostly don't want Boogie & like the guys we have & want to see more from them & would enjoy watching them develop; they're all good guys/character &... this is where there's the disconnect w/ Boogie. IDK if Boogie's a good teammate (actually seems ok) BUT we all know about his antics & I don't think I want that around our guys/city. The talent is off the charts but the rest...? IF Neil's doing things to get Boogie here & he gets him, I will support Boogie & hope like hell he behaves; if Neil isn't able to get him & we keep the guys we have, I'll be happiest. IF Neil's doing things to go after Barnes... it depends who's involved to make me ok w/ this (w/ Boogie I understand we'll have to give a little more to get him so I'm more accepting of losing some1/someoneS we like), definitely less willing to give up guys that we like for Barnes.

That's what I'm getting at. Bigger picture, guys.
Also, I think it would be a huge mistake to get rid of Kaman in order to take on another project big. Adding Bennett to Meyers/Vonleh/Plumlee/Davis makes Kaman's role that much more important. Kaman, without playing a single minute, is more valuable to the team than Frazier or Pressey. I don't know enough about them, but he's possibly more important than some of our other 2nd rounders too. Basically, there are others who can be cut ahead of Kaman.

The Wolves are buying him out for the same reasons we don't need him

We still have to meet the minimum salary requirement - his contract doesn't hurt us (unless it goes beyond this season). It would actually be better to have him on his current deal than a new deal, if it's the last year of his current deal.

Well, that is assuming the Blazers pick up his 2016 option. If not, he will be a ufa after the season. I see no reason to bring him in for one year, unless it's purely to add salary for the floor, and 7+MM for next year doesn't make a lot of business sense imo.

Oh, when does the option need to be picked up? If it's not picked up he becomes UFA? I figured he'd be a RFA.

Otherwise he's a UFA next summer? I certainly wouldn't pick up his option, but if he becomes a RFA next summer I still think it'd be fine to pick up his current contract. If he becomes a UFA then it'd be better to let him clear waivers and sign a new deal with a TO on Y2.

Yeah, if they decline the option, he is a UFA. Similar to trob last year.

Seriously, though... this would be a coup for the Blazers, and I don't know why other teams aren't salivating at potentially adding him to their roster. An admitted undersized PF/oversized SF, he would give the Blazers options for small/big ball situations. The kid HAS talent, and might just need the right atmosphere to blossom.

Seriously, if we sign him and the Blazers don't have the theme from "the great white north" play when he scores, someone should be fired

I read an article that compared him to Oliver Miller years ago in Phoenix..ton of talent but food was just more important than basketball. I wouldn't doubt the Blazers pick him up off waivers and give him a shot to compete. He'll be a cheap rental at worst. I'd be more intrigued by Alexander

Yes because the 4 people (myself included) who actually remember who Bob and Doug McKenzie are would be highly offended if that wasn't played.
