I guess Oregon is doing it different from wa and co. 200 medical dispensaries will open for recreational sales tomorrow. In washington you get these places with lots of foot traffic and pre packaged flowers of sub par quality. What you get with the medical dispensaries is a bud tender who will pick fresh flowers out of an oversized mason jar. Much higher quality and an overall better buying experience.

Who is Planning on buying tomorrow?

For those considering here is a list of shops that will be able to sell to you tomorrow - http://www.oregon.gov/oha/mmj/Pages/directory.aspx

Call ahead to make sure if you have to drive a ways!

Methinks I will stick with the medical dispensaries. The high CBD/ low THC products I sometimes use are not really suitable for recreational use - but they are very helpful from a medicinal POV.

You ever walk through Pioneer Courthouse Square? It quite often reeks of weed, and that was long before weed was legalized. I see people smoking more openly now, but they certainly weren't very afraid before.

The lines are going to be crazy for awhile. I'm looking forward to when things settle down, then I'll wander in and see what's up (besides the customers). I just hope the projected lower prices aren't a (literal) pipe dream. And, if the recreational joints (sorry, I just can't help it) want to stay in business in what looks to be a highly (see?? And I ain't even trying) market place, I expect high quality weed to be the norm, rather than the exception. But maybe I'm just blowing smoke..........

I see one in Waldport right on the 101 is on the list. That should be rather convenient. Same with another one right on the 99 in Dundee.

They're gonna start policing it pretty hard. As they should. Take your ass home and smoke. No flaming fuckin' Hummers up and down I-5. It should be policed just like alcohol.

That's another benefit of our way vs the others. You will have a wider variety of cbd products. Perhaps people will come from Vancouver for these reasons.

Didn't you read about the "Immaculate Conception" on the Burnside Bridge on July 1st? A ton of people gathered there right after midnight to smoke. At 11:59pm on June 30, nobody had weed. Moments later, everyone was smoking. The possession was totally legal (though smoking in public is not, though nobody was arrested during the event).

There was one question notable for it not being asked. What are my chances of becoming a cannabis abuser or chemically dependent on the drug?

There is no known answer either, but having worked with chemically dependent people through a rehabilitation facility, I do know a few thing we do know and some we do not.

I did some collation of alcohol abusers and their character types. Small sample to be sure 32 of the 32 people as alcoholics, that is chemically dependent on alcohol were of the Intuitive group, NT or NF character types. The same test could not be done with cannabis abusers because there were none in the facility for treatment that were not also abusers of some other substance.

The facility had a track record of successfully treating high percentage of the alcohol abusers. The track record at the time was non existent for successful treatment of cannabis/other patients, or there were no known clean prior patients.

Another reason it is difficult to characterize cannabis/other group is the motivation for being treated. The alcoholics I tested either were persuaded to seek treatment or did it on their own. They self identified as chemically dependent alcoholics. Those that were forced into treatment were tested but not tabulated because that could, probably would skew the results. They could not be accurately identified as alcoholics. Very few people forced into treatment ever successfully avoid abusing the chemical of choice again.
There is a difference between a drunk and an alcoholic. The drunk drinks when they want to and can turn it off when they wish. The alcoholic does not have this control until the long term affects of abuse have been given time to subside before real choice is available. So that leaves 75% of society as probably not being susceptible to becoming an alcoholic, and 25% that could but do not understand their risk.

If you google "Cannabis abuse rehabilitation" you will find a long list of scholarly articles available to read, none that taut successful rehabilitation, and that is my experience. I suspect it has to do with character type, just as it does with the alcoholic, but also the affects of the drug do not lead the abuser to want or seek treatment. However, that does not mean they do not become impaired by long term abuse of the drug, it seems to mean, they just don't give a shit.

I find it deplorable that we will now legally add this additional road bump in the way of our children with blessing of society, without understanding the consequences.

anything can be abused..in my view, cannabis is pretty harmless as a recreational herb..it lowers blood sugar and if you smoke it like Bob Marley did, it'll probably turn you into a mush ball over the years.

An addictive personality will always find something to cling to. If I never touched a drop of alcohol, it wouldn't prevent even one other person from abusing alcohol. At some point, the rest of us deserve to be left alone to live our lives.
