    The voters of Oregon and Washington have both recently passed enhanced gun laws. I'm fine with letting the citizens of each state deciding what is best for them.

    Again, we have stricter laws on the sale, registration and buying of motor vehicles. That doesn't mean the government wants to discar us.

    Umpqua Community College, however, was not a gun free zone. A 2011, state court decision prohibited public colleges from banning guns on campus. The decision stemmed from a suit filed by the Oregon Firearm Education Foundation, a gun rights group. There was an effort to pass a new law to reinstate the ability of public colleges to ban guns. That measure was defeated by gun rights advocates.

    I hate guns.. People who are all about having guns freak me out. I think the part of the 2nd amendment about citizens having the right to guns as a means to prevent a tyrannical government has been ridiculous for probably over 100 years. I believe we would all be better off if no citizens and less police had guns. Don't ask me how I would make that happen, because I have no idea, it's just how I think it should be.

    Trying to compare the regulation of guns and cars is impossible. Cars are part of our everyday routine. How many cars do you see everyday? How often do you drive? Guns can't be fired within city limits unless in a controlled environment. Guns are a lot closer to something like a four wheeler. You can't drive them on the street. You have to take them out to the woods to use them. There isn't a license required to ride a quad is there?

    If everyone was carrying around a gun everyday and they were being used regularly on a day to day basis I could see the comparison. They aren't. I could go months without seeing one.

    To add to the car comparison, I have been in a few car accidents in my life. I have had a number of near misses. I have never been shot at. I have never had a gun pointed at me (except for the cops once). Cars pose a much much bigger threat on a daily basis. There's a reason why they're so heavily regulated.
