Why is a Gun Free Zone free of guns until a bad guy comes with a gun? The it is a killing zone until a good guy comes with a gun.

I saw an interesting statistic they were pushing on the news. Everyday 36 people die from guns... A quick lookup, and huh, weird ya know what? 1300 people die everyday from smoking (exposure, or second hand) and 3200 people everyday from car accidents.

 

I don't think many understand the concept of a gun free zone. Not allowing every idiot with a gun and a superhero fantasy to carry minimizes the accidental or collateral damage that these people can cause. It may (and this is arguable) make situations with active shooters less safe, but the overall safety is a net gain. So in essence you are trading the every day idiot danger for occasional psychopath danger. Gun free zones are not just about bad guys and good guys.

No, I think the language is clear, they meant for us to have weapons, two hundred years ago, today, and two hundred years from now. Probably not sufficiently armed as to effect
international relations, as Arming a Naval vessel was frowned on, a Nuke probably should be view in the same way.

 

I think you are the one that does not know what this means. It means even people authorized to carry can not carry in these zones. That is why when the wacko comes with a gun, you have to call out to 911 for a guy with a gun. Gun free zone means killing zone to those that don't give a shit about the rule and no one there can stop them. Totally illogical.

Well to be fair there were several people on campus with concealed weapons because the gun free zone was held unconstitutional. I listened to one of them calling into Fox Radio yesterday who was a veteran and wanted to go confront the gunman but staff told him not to. My thought was that could be a horrible situation. Imagine the police response not knowing who is a good guy and who is a bad guy.

 

As I hear it, the school still has a policy of no guns. That means no one was there armed to protect the student from the wacko. They had to wait for the good guy with a gun to come.
The guy you speak of didn't use his so he was of no count even though he apparently ignored the policy. My guess is the wacko didn't come near him or the staff might have been ignored also.
