That's EXACTLY what El Prez was saying. I didn't take shit from his statistics. I took his word.

Using gun deaths and completely ignoring their major issues with violent crimes is bullshit.

You guys sure like to argue with each other about guns a lot, knowing the other side's mind will not change.

First of all, no one is ignoring violent crime. There's 18000 PLUS gun deaths in this country. Let's not skirt that issue...

Religion and politics are the two major topics that have passionate segregation. That's usually why so many of those threads are pages long. I've tried to stay away from religion here for that reason. I won't stay away from politics though.

The difference between Mags and I is that if new information is presented, I can change my mind...

It just boggles my mind that there are people who are ignoring the cause of these shootings and choosing instead to focus all their energy on the tool with which they are carried out. It's like trying to fight an electrical fire with water... it doesn't work. You have to kill the source of the fire before it will extinguish.

The issue is absolutely "violent crimes". This is the very issue why anyone would argue banning guns. If you ban guns but the violent crimes are still high, then the guns are not the problem. It's the society...

Lol that's total bullshit! There has been facts pushed in your face and your response is "well that's bullshit". You are the left wing extremist that will not listen to a single fact if it goes against your grain.

Blaming guns is the easy thing to do. It doesn't force us to look at our society as a whole. It makes the inanimate object into the villain instead of the person wielding it.

It's realistically a much easier fix to regulate guns than it is to figure out why people are getting to the point where they want to shoot a bunch of innocent bystanders. How do you fix that? People want to feel like they're doing something. I've had people say that to me before. We have to do SOMETHING, so instead of fixing the problem, they do SOMETHING and that SOMETHING changes nothing. Oregon passed a bill recently that required that all private gun sales have to go through a background check. That was doing SOMETHING. Would it have prevented Umpqua? Nope, but it sure was SOMETHING.

No one is ignoring it at all. That's your strawman argument. You and everyone on your side have yet to say what needs to be done about mental issues. Do we pay more of our taxpayer dollars to fix that problem? Do we take away guns and prevent people with mental issues from getting them? What is your fix?

Actually I did say something... you just ignored it.

And yes they are ignoring it. My facebook was saturated with people who were screaming about gun control after the shooting.

Obviously we just need to round up all the crazies and put them on an island. What do you think?

Yeah no... Put Blacks or Whites instead of "crazies" (completely disrespectful to people with mental illness) and see how your argument sounds. You all CLAMOR for there to be no taking away of your "right" to own an instrument of death but CLAMOR for other's rights to be taken away. You guys are full of shit.
