Good for him! Normally I'd worry about a player coming back too soon. But Matthews isn't someone I'm worried about not putting in the work.
Its going to be a risk whenever he comes back. He could sit out the whole season and still be at risk his first game back next year. If the team doctor clears him and he feels healthy he should give it a go.
We used to have an ongoing Around the NBA thread that covered these things..now it seems often what should be posts in an around the NBA become threads...Lamarcus too..Wes looks slow and heavy on his feet to me.
I'm a bit miffed at Wes for his made up anger at Portland for them not maxing him out like Dallas. With LMA gone that is totally unrealistic. When he returns I hope he will remember the fans and not this issue with management. They will certainly give him an ovation. But, I hope he isn't making a mistake by coming back too soon. I would love to see him be successful next season, except when he is being smothered by Aminu.
Maybe he thinks he was more of a leader and critical to the Blazers success than LaMarcus. With the way the team played after he went down and how LaMarcus carried himself since I'm not sure he's wrong. I suspect he's not really angry just another thing he uses for motivation; Utah didn't want him on his contract, we didn't want him on his contract. We signed Enis the Penis Kanter for the same contract Wes got. I'm a huge Wes fan but it didn't make sense for us to keep him in a multi year rebuild. I see both sides. He's a Mav now so thats where his work and motivation is at. If he gets a warm reception from fans on his return to Portland I'd expect it'll mean a lot to him and he'll be grateful.
