Saw this video recently. Don't know if it was on here or on twitter. I would have totally freaked out.

OMG, I saw that one too and would have shit!!!!

I did encounter a "black bear" in our camp years ago. He was that close, trying to get into my ice chest. We screamed and tossed rocks at him until he stood up. Even a black bear is pretty huge! Scary!

Dude, animals like that are terrifying to me. I fear that I would become that person from that Walking Dead thread...

I have been that close to a cougar..... at night...... by myself......

Let's just say that I was pointing a handgun and a flashlight at it, waiting for it to make the first move. It decided to part as friends so that's how it ended.

I had a similar experience a few years back. We were camping in the high desert and I wandered away from the fire at night to go pee in some sage brush. As I was peeing I heard a low growl type of noise, looked in front of me and there was a cougar crouched, looking ready to attack about 5 feet in front of me. I just calmly backed up slowly and it luckily didn't pounce on me. I definitely got some urine on my pants and shoes.......hehe And I honestly couldn't count how many times I have run into black bears in southern Oregon. Every time, as soon as they saw us they would just turn around and leave.

That sounds like the cougar was purely in a defensive stance. Honestly, if a cougar really wants to kill you, you'll most likely have no clue that it's there until it's on top of you.

You are completely right about that. If it wanted me it would have had me with no warning. Also, The next morning, we walked over to where the confrontation took place and there was a partially eaten deer laying there. I was basically pissing on its food. Bad idea.......

Cougars honestly care me more than anything else in the woods. The silent killers. I've owned cats for far too long to not understand the capability of a cat.

Hey, that's in Fernie, not far from here. Nice spot. Note to self: hike in a group next time you're there.

I saw some old people having sex on a towel when I was fishing at Klamath Lake as a teenager. That was a pretty scary experience.
