What's with all the even numbers for choices? I'd have picked 17 which he avgd against Memphis in the playoffs. Now I had to pick 16 which is a bit low
Brad Beal put up 15/3/4 last year. And he blew up in the playoffs, and there was even talk of a max extension for him. I think CJ can do at least what Beal did in the regular season.
I'm more worried about his shooting percentage. I have no doubt he can put up 18-20 PPG but if it's going to be on 41/35 shooting it's really not that impressive.
Henderson, Leonard, Aminu, Crabbe, we have a ton of scorers. Did you see us run up the score on GS and LAC? Yes, we lost to LAC, but it was clear that we won't have trouble scoring this year.
14, when Stotts realizes he needs to come off the bench and also realizes that Henderson, Crabbe or Harkless is more valuable playing next to Dame because they can play defense.
It means nothing to me if he looks like he did in the playoffs vs Memphis last year.. But only plays 60 games due to finger injuries.
Normally I'd agree but Lillard and McCollum are going to be relied on so heavily to score that they're bound to put up a lot of "bad" shots..just out of necessity. Like AI back in the day with the Sixers.
On offense at this point he's basically an in-his-prime Juan Dixon, who had a per 36 of 17ppg in his best year here on 45%/38%. So yeah, about like that. 35 mpg, 17 ppg, 45%/38%. Hopefully his defense is better.
It's not so much that he's bad, he isn't that bad, but next to Dame, who hasn't shown great defense, and likely matched up with either quicker or bigger 2s I'm not optimistic. CJ is only 0.5" taller than Dame and has a 2" shorter wingspan. I know he wants to put effort into defense, and does talk about it (as does Dame), but I haven't seen it yet. I don't think it is too much of a stretch to imagine Hendo, Harkless and Crabbe being better defenders than CJ. It doesn't mean he's terrible, jut not the best, or the most committed.
Your statement, though, was not that they should play alongside Dame because they are better defenders (which they undoubtedly are), but that they should play alongside him because they CAN play defense, which implies that CJ can't. As with other times when we argue, I think we basically agree here. However, I'd like to see CJ thrown into some tough D situations this year, specifically to see how he'll handle them.
I think that will start tomorrow night. I wish/hope Tyreke gets in the game as that would be a great test.
