I think the Knicks are going to be just like us this season. Just like us they signed less-than-marquee names, but players who make under-the-radar contributions. Like us they have one star and a bunch of young players who have either not had a chance or have disappointed. And like us they're looking surprisingly fun to watch and have overachieved in preseason. Difference is, we're going to be worse than last year, they're going to be a lot better.

Not sure who's our Porzingis, though. Vonleh, perhaps?

Maybe style of play but certainly not bang for the buck. They spent a lot more than us. 13 Mil a year on Rolo. 8 Mil a year for Afflalo.

Except they're at least one up on us in the "reprehensible human being" count...

Unless Carmelo has matured overnight, he's nowhere close to Dame as a leader and facilitator. So we have that going for us. We also have more youth and energy. I loved RoLo to death, but he's big and lumbering with no outside shot. As most everyone here has pointed out, Plums has all kinds of skills and can run the floor, Aminu is the energizer bunny and Davis looks like an enforcer. Then there's CJ, Leonard and Harkless. I like our present and future way, way better than theirs. Their only advantage is playing in the Eastern Conference. So they do have a shot at the playoffs.....

And yes, I personally feel, with some nurturing, Vonleh can be more of a contributor that Porzingis by the end of this season and better overall career wise.

They're much older and much more expensive ($75 million vs. $48 million payroll). Sure, they few young guys, but they also rely on old guys for a lot of their points and minutes.

Didn't watch this year's Knicks, but last season their offense looked like shit. I don't see any resemblance.

There's also no resemblance between this year's and last year's Knicks.

I clean forgot about Afflalo. That negates everything. That's just crazy.

Knicks didn't impress me at all in the 2nd game loss..I'll take Plumlee over Rolo and Davis over Freeland

Sorry to OT a bit here but this reminded me, did we not meet the salary minimum and therefor the difference was spread out among the players. Am I remembering and saying that right?

I might be wrong, but I dont think that has expired yet? I think we can still spend money during the season come trade deadline and use up the money we are below the minimum?

The salary minimum is on the last day of the regular season; so basically we have until the mid February trade deadline.

    http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q15

Trade season starts mid December when newly signed free agents are first eligible to be traded and a few teams have decided either they can't contend or need another piece.

I expect us to absorb a player for picks or a young talent. Probably similar to the Cleveland trade where we got second round picks.
