What Carson actually said. A Politico article.

During last week's debate, Carson flatly denied "an involvement" with Mannatech, calling claims to the contrary "total propaganda."

"I did a couple of speeches for them, I do speeches for other people. They were paid speeches. It is absolutely absurd to say that I had any kind of a relationship with them. Do I take the product? Yes. I think it’s a good product," he said.

Geraghty called similar arguments from Carson and Williams "sophistry," adding that "the Speaker’s Bureau just transfers the money from the group to the speaker; Carson spoke to the group four times and talked about the company’s 'glyconutrient' products in a PBS special as recently as last year."

As Breitbart noted earlier this week, that program was not sponsored by Mannatech, but rather by the Platinum Group, which distributes the company's products.

“There was no contract between me as the producer of the PBS special presentation and Dr. Carson, the host of the program. There was, however, a gentleman’s agreement. Both committed and agreed to do it, and we kept our word,” the producer of the January 2014 special told Breitbart.

So he denied an involvement but acknowledged making speeches.

If he denied making the speeches, then I'd say he was lying.

The story is pretty much everywhere, and you are literally the only person I've seen claim it wasn't a lie. Hell, even his 'business manager' admits he negotiated the contract.

    I don't read DailyKOS, myself.

Pretty sure the FBI was already investigating; Gowdy's committee changed nothing (except making Hillary look better).

She can take 11 hours of Gowdy, but Republican candidates can't take two hours (10 min apiece) of CNBC? Pretty clear who the whiners are.

His business manager negotiated a contract with PBS. The company in question had nothing to do with it.

    You're caught lying again.

Gowdy's committee uncovered the email server that Hillary has repeatedly lied about. New lies from her as the truth came out.

No, barfo, the FBI wouldn't be investigating if not for the committee's oversight.

Egregious lies, barfo. Obstruction of justice and other crimes she's lied to cover up.

I'll grant you that the republicans are a bit whiney about CNBC moderators and the debate formats. At least I understand their motivation.

And her email server caused the death of the ambassador how, exactly?

According to Williams and Richard Taylor, executive producer of the segment, Mannatech employees repeatedly approached Carson in between filming to coerce him into making comments beneficial to Mannatech. "I guess they were trying to force their agenda, but it didn't influence Dr. Carson," Taylor said. Williams told Bloomberg that Carson called him after the shoot and was angry about Mannatech's tactics at the taping. Taylor said Carson, who was not paid for the taping, was unaware that Mannatech distributor, The Platinum Group, sponsored the program.

    ...

At last week's Republican presidential debate, Carson called suggestions that he had a formal relationship with the controversial supplement-maker "total propaganda." Still, Carson has acknowledged that he has delivered paid speeches to the company, and takes Mannatech supplements, which he has called "a good product."

Carson campaign spokesman Doug Watts said that although Carson uses Mannatech supplements "he was not paid to endorse the product" and that Carson's contract for the speeches was with the Washington Speakers Bureau, not Mannatech.

"There has never been another contractual relationship between Dr. Carson and Mannatech," Watts said. "In fact, the speeches were a contract between WSB and Mannatech—not Carson."
