They're over the luxury tax threshold. If they dump his salary, they don't have to pay the tax. http://www.basketballinsiders.com/chicago-bulls-team-salary/ Noah makes $13.4M. The Luxury Tax line is $84.74M. If push comes to shove, they'll probably move Taj Gibson.
My dad always told me that "Free ain't Free" what's the catch here? Where's the lead pipe.. are we in the conservatory? Where the hell is Col. Mustard???
Steve Blake is really the missing piece to the championship. Right now we are WCF level, he just takes us to the promise land!
Noah fits into the culture of players that are hard nosed and play hard. If were close to the playoffs wed really have nothing to lose. He'd probably go better with a blockbuster trade to replace the bigs we'd likely be sending out.
If we give up next to nothing, why not? If it doesn't work, oh well. Not like we're giving up talent.
Because Neil Olshey isn't going to bring in rentals...he is gonna bring in someone who is going to stay and who fits.. Noah doesn't exist in those two categories...plus he is an injury waiting to happen...no way he will ever wear a Blazers uniform
I'm not sure there's anyone else we're going to get for nothing in return. The cap space could be put to good use if we're a playoff team. Teams aren't giving away young talented players who are ideally suited for our system.
I just see it as a good move for the young guys and a good move for on the floor, we could really go shut down mode at end of games if we had Noah. Imagine a Dame/Harkless/Aminu/Davis/Noah lineup.

Portland is one of the few teams that could bring him in for nothing. If the Bulls really wanted to dump salary, they might do that versus trading him for other players. If done soon enough, Portland could trade for him and then move him out in a 1-for-1 deal right away to pick up assets they might want for later.
