This article, has Greinke putting a spin on something he's said since he arrived in L.A. ie, He told his agent, He "only want's to play in the NL, on a winning team; with the best chances of going to Post Season, and beyond"......and= he's made several references to liking his role in the NL, as a player who can contribute on both sides of the ball............

No doubt the Bums have the cash to top all, but will Zach look for a different location/team?

If its truly not about the money which it is, then Zach would remain a Dodger.

    But-

If both the Cubs and Bums have close offers, I'd not be surprised to see Greinke opt for a change in Location; in the North Side of Chi-Town.

Greinke is exactly what the doctor ordered for
the northside of Chi town. He gets the Cubbies
    to the Big Show.

...I expect Grienke to resign with the Dodgers but the Cubs have the money and may be a player in luring him to Chicago.

...maybe in the back of his mind he's tired of LA and wants a fresh start and a change of scenery but whoever he plays for next year, as we've seen many times in the past, it will likely be for the team who forked over the most money.
...And when it finally happens you just know that at the subsequent obligatory press conference, as per usual, the player will proclaim "it wasn't about the money". ...but we know different, because it's always about the money.

One would think the Dodgers would have learned watching the Yankee letting CC and A=hole pull a Jesse James at opt time. If I remember CC tweeted or twooted Yankee Fans saying in effect, hey I'm coming back. Same applies to Greinke, let the spoiled little guppy swim anywhere he wishes to be. Safe to say ball players are well compensated for their skills but I'd think there are a few who have egos that outrun their abilities.

How the hell does someone opt out of $25M dollars a year because its not enough money & expect $30M+ a year. But some idiot team (Dodgers) will give it to him. And after seeing the numbers I hope its not the Giants. I swear opt out clauses have to be the dumbest thing they've ever done in this game.

...yeah, the opt out clause is a one way street...it always benefits the player, never the team.

Let the Hollywood Dodgers re-sign him - that's where he belongs, they deserve each other.

The inside track has Greinke going to Frisco for 10 yrs and 300 Million $$$ ...:biglaugh:still Pitching at 42 yrs of age........!

    4. The rival: San Francisco Giants
All that is a way of saying there could be room in the payroll for Greinke.

Indeed, Greinke may be the on missing piece or 2, which the Cubs need to see a W.S.

An older, (and yep, I thought I was old), Buddy of mine, reminds me often, don't forget, these are the snake bit Cubs were talking about. Of course he's 81 yrs old, and has seen things, I've never.......

Just like he replies, These are the Lions, (a Detroit Native), ......

    ...^^^ My exact sentiments.....

This situation with Greinke, makes me think back to when Drysdale was only offered 80,000$, after they had signed Koufax, with a nice raise to $100,000.

The rest is History, as you recall, how Koufax showed up with Drysdale, in tow: (surprising O'Malley), to reject his 80K offer, ......

Drysdale told Koufax he was offered less than Sandy. Both SK and DD; showed up to negotiate Drysdale's lesser contract, until both got equal pay at 90K$.......

We would never see Kershaw, go to the brass, and do as much, never ever.....cuz it's all about personal greed, wealth, Commodities in lieu of Players.......

and Yep, "its all about the money".......!!~~

This situation brings back many memories over decades, from Mantle's hold out for $100K, to Koufax and Drysdale's friendship, beyond money...

IMO, this IS a case, (just like you said) : "I'd think there are a few who have egos that outrun their abilities".

1 single year of watching Dodger games, (since I didn't have TWB-Cable until this year), and I'm more than appalled, I'd rather see The Bottomless Pit Pockets of the Bums Ownership group, and lose Greinke to Frisco.

Even tho' I'd rather see Him to to The Cubs, will Epstein bite...?

I could see the Pirates and Cards in the Cubs mix....but wouldn't be surprised if the Nats and Mets got in on the bidding.
