I must of touched a nerve when I included a couple of (convenient?) ommisions in your post (#12) "now that Cashman's money supply has been cut off, he finds himself in the position of finally having to use his fucking head for a change...something he is obviously unable to do. ...unless some serious restructuring is done, 2016 will be no better than the last few years". So I just felt the need (post14) to include other facts to help give a better more complete picture of what you tried to express... with: ....."when Cashman did have to his "fucking head" to fill a couple of holes last offseason, he came through with flying colors with immediate success. Gregorius for Greene. Miller instead of Robertson (for less money and a 1st round pick) Cervelli for Wilson - a very respectable middle reliever, AND opened up a spot for John Ryan Murphy". Sorry to spoil the party. Nah,...despite all the desperate childish pictures you toss up, I know darn well I'm not always right and I am sometimes wrong. It's a big club, you also belong to it....sorry again. But some people should really try and come to grips with the fact that there are different opinions and sometimes, sometimes, a minority point of view isnt always "wrong" and it certainly has a right to be heard. Sometimes, there is no "right" answer. Sometimes, the reasons for success or failure had little to do with either opinion. I am definitely "wrong" on occasion.... And you sir, I'm afraid, aren't always "right".....
...STOP SMOTHERING ME, DAMNIT !...I CAN'T BREATHE. ...JUST TELL ME THAT I'M ALWAYS RIGHT...THAT'S REALLY ALL I NEED TO KNOW !
...oh, the hypocrisy ! Post #42; "Nah,...despite all the desperate childish pictures you toss up..." ...self-ownage personfide.
lol......... Okay, I'll go one more round with ya on this...didn't want to elaborate any further but your above post (#48) left no choice. You singled me out with your picture based on your belief I always think I'm right (which of course is not true) and was meanspirited.......and is a strawman issue. My picture (post47) is a lighthearted attempt to portray an accurate situation (picture) of "three" posters who sit around constantly "yessing" each other on virtually every Yankee issue and climbing all over anyone (which is also rare on this board) who doesn't march in lockstep with the three amigos...lmao......seriously, it really is comical to see, but I guess you'd have to be one of those from outside of the circle to recognize. And yes, of course we're all entitled to our opinions....and of COURSE sometimes I am wrong and I am very comfortable in my skin. "yes Mr. Smith, of course Mr. Jones, by all means Mr. Wilson" lol
Obviously you haven't been paying attention, there's more then three. And of course no one is ALWAYS right or wrong & opinions are like assholes being everyone has one but maybe others wouldn't get on you so much if you could just stay in the HERE & NOW & stay away from things that happened years ago. You also seem to have your head so far up Brian (can't do no wrong) Cashman's ass that his shit is blinding you. Either that or you're related to him. You also appear to have a great deal of trouble answering the simplest of questions. Questions I would ask anyone. Let me try this, I'm going to start a thread about the team for ANYONE to answer. Your ideas & opinions will be welcome.
... ^^^I hear there are at least 3 of us...which one are you guys?...hear no evil, speak no evil, or see no evil? ...but of course, this accusation was not meant to be "mean spirited".
If you me & Tom are very nicely being referred to as the 3 monkeys who or what do we call the others (Rob, Steve, Vic etc) that also don't agree with him?
Well, in any case, at least Cashman's plan will begin to take shape in 2016. (Thought you guys could use a laugh). Yanks are going to have imo a few youngsters on the team and they will be getting playing time. We have our differences on the Arod, Tex situations.... Yanks would love for Arod to retire and go away and that would really be best for the team going forward, payroll, "flexibility".....but he isn't, and the best we could hope for is he at least puts up "good" numbers in a part time DH role with Bird and Tex in some kind of semi rotation also taking turns at DH. This will probably take care of itself one way or another with injuries (Arod,Tex?) and/or old age catching up. To be fair to Tex and the Yanks, Tex was very good last year before his freaky injury and chances are he won't embarrass himself in 2016. Bird will get his turn. I'm more concerned with 2b,LF and RF....and of course SP. Would like to see the Yanks take the chance and open up a slot in the rotation for another kid pitcher along with Severino. Refsnyder MUST imo get every opportunity to LOSE the job at 2b. Would like to see one of the kids , Heathcott,Judge..Williams(?) get a lot of playing time in RF, and this situation will probably also take care of itself one way or another with Beltran possibility getting traded or being limited to a part-time RF, or an injury, or him losing more to age. Gardner- after two consecutive mediocre at best seasons, it could be time to try and move him or make him the 4th-5th outfielder. I know what the consensus is regarding Cashman, and I know I'm in the tiny minority on this, but I still believe he's doing a fairly good job at balancing a couple of big contracts to aging players (who DID already help win a WS) and infusing the team with young players and bringing along prospects to the big club. Williams and Heathcott would've gotten plenty of playing time in 2015 if they didn't get hurt.....Williams - kinda freaky injury hurting his shoulder diving back to the base....and Heathcott has to get over the hump and stay reasonably healthy.
The fact that a few big contracts expire at the same time (Teixeira & Beltran) is purely a coincidence & has NOTHING to do with Cashman's plan. Truth be told its quite obvious that Cashman doesn't have a plan. His idea of a plan if any is to just throw shit against the wall to see what sticks. Even if it means a possible losing season in 2016 I'd be okay in giving the kids a fair shot just to see what we have going forward.
Okay, duly noted. Expiring contracts or not, the Yanks did use their farm system in 2015 instead of panicking at the deadline and trading off prospects.... .... and will continue to have a good amount of young players on the 2016 roster....in spite of big contracts to aging players...one of which Tex, did VERY well and I see no reason why he won't finish his contract or at least 2016 in good fashion if he stays healthy.....if not, BIRD! It'll fall into place. It's called, "managing" a roster. No magic bullet. As some of us have said, we can't have it both ways.....Arod, Tex and CC were signed when they were in their prime AND have already helped the Yanks win their last WS, thank goodness or we would be going on a 16 year WS Title drought.....and now they are aging....Yanks will deal with and I am CONFIDENT the Yanks will be right in the middle of things in 2016......long way to go before the end of 2016 ST. Yep, Yanks should be about finishing in first place....I was as dissapointed as any other Yankee fan when they had to settle for WC game....but I also know they were one game away from a post season series and it took a SP imo (Keuchel) having the year of his life (also against the Yanks) to stop them. That's how the cookie crumbles, I moved on.... ....looking to win the division next year. And then I suppose it's WORLD SERIES or bust. I wonder if "opinions" would've been different if the Yanks won 91-92 games in 2015 and also lost the WC game to a team which won 86 games. Think about it. Go Yanks!
...unless Tex and/or ARod are injured, Bird won't see much time. ...the contracts of Tex/ARod/CC were horribly ill-advised and over-extended moves, period...and no amount of sugar coating and referencing 2009 will overcome that fact. ...a person can try as hard as they wish to polish a turd, but it does not change the facts.
Unfortunately on this very RARE occasion I have to agree with this. I mean hell even if you give Teixeira 20 games off during the year & you give A-Rod 30 games off you're still only talking about 50 games that he'll play in, which is what MAYBE 200 ABs.
Nobody is sugar coating anything. It is what it is. CC was 33 yrs old going into the 2014 season - he'll be 35 going into the 2016 season....it is what it is. It wasn't outlandish to expect a SP to continue making at least a competent contribution at ages 34-36. He broke down, and that's that. And as bad as it may sound, the jury is still out on the remainder of what CC can provide in whatever pitching capacity for the last year or two of his contract. He had a 2.87 ERA in 9GS for August and September (2015). If he's done, he's done! Yanks had plenty of other culprits during the second half. Arod - No sugar coating.....he tailed off in the 2nd half. And it was against Cashman's "advice" when Hank extended him...probably was a majority vote by ownership as they thought PRIOR to 2013 he would make a serious push for the all time HR record and would be good for "business". Lets not use revisionist history here. And chances are, he will either get much more "rest" in 2016 or force the Yanks to play him alot less due to injury/age catching up with him. And what's wrong with having Tex (hopefully) having a good season in 2016? He'll be 36 in 2016 season....jeez, is it unusual to expect a 36 yr old 1b to provide good offensive output especially when he was VERY productive the previous year? If he DOES break down in 2016, so be it, Bird steps in full time...otherwise, young Mr. Bird is just going to have to wait it out and chip in whenever the Yanks pencil him in. Jeez.....If Bird stunk up the place when he got called up some of us might be "praying" Tex bounces back with another productive season. Yanks lack of offense from LF,2b and CF were as big a reason as anything else for the Yanks' poor August and September...and the Yankee pitching with the exception of Tanaka was pretty much a disgrace vs Toronto in September.
...thanx for agreeing with me, Rick...and I'll be sure to return the favor...I'm proud to be a card carrying member of the "voice of reason" coalition.
