I don't like to kick a guy when he's down but I'd do likewise for CC.

I hope he gets his act together. Always liked CC, tough competitor...will hang in there until you have to save him from himself....pitched with knee problem....age? too much mileage?...... (Cleve,Milw)..Yanks.
Still the last Yankee SP to win 20 G w/well over 200 IP...and could be the last for quite some time...yep, kick them when they're down!
And just for good measure, and not to upset anyone but, he pitched to a 2.87 ERA in 9 GS in Aug/Sept. 2015
And he wasn't one of the Yankee P who embarrassed themselves and the team during those pivotal Sept matches vs Toronto.
    (neither was Tanaka).

...even if the Yanx were willing to "eat 60% of Teixeira's contract" in order to trade him, they'd still have to get him to agree to wave his NTC and I don't see that happening. Tex is from the Baltimore area and nearly signed with the O's instead of the Yanx and that's the only place I can envision him agreeing to being traded to...and I doubt the Yanx would trade him to a division rival anyway.

...we also need to consider that Tex's numbers will still probably be better than Bird's. Don't get me wrong, I really like Bird and I think he's got a future with the Yanx but I'm not sure he's quite ready to be the full time 1Bman...the kid still has some maturing to do as a hitter and he strikes out a ton.
...yeah, he hit a few bombs last year but so did Tex and Tex's defense makes the whole infield's defense much better. It's hard to get a ground ball or a throw past Tex...defensively, he's one of the best I've ever seen.

...I just don't understand why the Yanx would be willing to eat $15 Mil of his contract while also sacrificing his production on offense and defense,

Must've missed something, do we now want to trade Tex?
    Why?
Just play him and get all we can from him....he knows he'll be playing probably for his last contract after this one is up.
If he breaks down, the Yanks move Bird in full time....its basically a win-win situation for the Yanks....they get good production from Tex as long as they can, or they begin (sooner than later) to find out about Bird.

I don't believe Tex' contract will prevent the Yanks from spending a few bucks if they feel they have to.

Contrary to popular belief, I happen to believe even Hal and Cashman know how much money will be coming off the books in the next 1-2 years. Jeez

They are inspecting every carry on bag, and luggage, after the incident last week, with the Aircraft blown out of the sky. Looking for any incendiary devices. Bomb materials can be hidden in the smallest of places, eluding inspectors......!

^^^^^^^Crunchy is the only way to go!

The Yankees have always over rated their own talent......
nothing new there, but to hold on to this talent waiting
for the light bulbs to click on
    is ludicrous.
